MWA are arriving back in Aoteaora after a week in Rarotonga. Hardship we know…

23 paddlers from the club participated in the annual Vaka Eiva international paddling event. It was great for the 'old hands' to take the newbies to a cool event held over the last week involving countries from Australia, Tahiti, Canada, USA, New Zealand as well as the Cook Is. Paddling 36km around the reef of Rarotonga is a great experience and is lots of fun. When we arrived the wind was up and the conditions were challenging. By Wednesday things had settled down and it was perfect.

The club had women's and men's crews in the Monday 12km race and the round Raro Wednesday race. The final day, Friday was around Rarotonga again this time in 2 mixed crews. Check out some of the photos and videos to get a taste of what it was like. We managed to get a little bit of ‘bling’ as well! Special mention to ‘Q Topp’ who managed to win the boiler swim for the club (He smoked everyone!)

Lastly, MWA would like to thank all the people who supported our movie night fundraisers, and helped support our paddlers (gyms, pilates, massage) over the last 3 months of training. It’s always great to have community support.
