Located within the 34 hectare Mangawhai Community Park, the Mangawhai Historic Village brings together restored buildings from across the district. Developed through community volunteer effort and managed by the Mangawhai Pioneer Village Trust (est. 2016), the precinct includes the 1895 church, Tara Road School (closed 1968), the former Post Office and telephone exchange, a 1920s farm cottage, and a replica gum digger’s hut. The village preserves and interprets Mangawhai’s rural and community heritage.

TODAY IS FREE ENTRY for Kaipara Rate-payers!
Get out of the rain and spend some time inside Mangawhai Museum. Live music this morning, new toys to test inside (check out that wharenui!), and a warm and dry destination to explore. Free today and tomorrow for Kaipara rate-payers, open 10am-4pm. Daring Rescue tours 11am-1pm. (More parking on the gravel below the museum or grass by the Mangawhai Historic Village).

Urlich Cottage
• Built in Black Swamp Road
• Transported across to the hotel and up Moir Street, opposite the Domain.
• Donated by Ivan Urlich
• Relocated in 2019 and has been restored to original condition
• From December 2023 the cottage has a new role as the Information Centre for Mangawhai
