The Garage Sale

The Garage Sale The Garage Sale Op Shop is a Project Lyttelton Community Fundraising Project. All funds raised go back to our community.

Opening Hours:
Wed - Fri 10am - 3:30pm
Saturday 10am - 1pm. The Garage Sale is a Project Lyttelton initiative run mostly by volunteers. It is Lyttelton's much loved charity op-shop and fully functioning community trading center. The shop is a hub for our community to connect in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place. It is also where donations may be reused, recycled and repurposed. Locals donate

their unwanted items and The Garage Sale team happily sell them. Locals can also trade their donations for Time Bank credits - it's a win win for everyone. The Garage Sale is also available to local harbour community groups as an opportunity to raise funds for their group. This is how it works:

- A community group makes a booking to run The Garage Sale on
either a Saturday (10am-1pm).
- On the day 2-3 Volunteers from that community group arrive and run
The Garage Sale.
- The community group keeps the funds raised on the day - typically
$200-$400 and gives a $20-$40 contribution to Project Lyttelton for
administration, advertising, power, and dump fees etc. We have had at least 20 community groups take up this opportunity before, running the shop on a Saturday morning. This is a busy morning as visitors to the Farmers Market also come up and visit the shop. Please contact us to ask how this can work for your community group. Our volunteers are a fun team, each of us bringing our own magic and skills to the shop. We are always looking for more volunteer help, and we'd love to hear from you if this is something you might be interested in. A: 54 Oxford Street, Lyttelton

The artist has styled her work after a vintage 'The 'Greys' silk cut Virginia to***co tin' - with a likely reference to colonist George Grey who governed in NZ initially from 1845 - 1853 and later for a second term. His governorships were defined by deep conflict and controversial dealings with Māori population, primarily concerning land rights, sovereignty, and the Te Tiriti.

Two items either for collectors or kids.
The Imaginext set is vintage from 2001, whist the pram (with spring suspension) could be from the 50's or 60's.
- The pram needs a good clean, but is otherwise in good condition at $40.
- The Imaginext Medievil Battle Castle set has been checked over by our toy expert who tells us $50 is a great price. Comes with instructions thankfully.

Into creating some visual art? .... easels have made their way into the Garage Sale thanks to a kind donator!

Gentle reminder....There was a lightbox that came in with these that we sadly have to pay to dispose of as we cannot sell, or even give away anything electrical due to regulations - you'd be surprised how may electrical items come in as well. Pity eh.

If you wish to donate useful electrical items, you can always give things to Habitat for Humanity!
