Help us give more young people someone in their corner.

Every week, our volunteer mentors show up for tamariki and rangatahi across Wellington, Hutt Valley, Porirua and Kāpiti – listening, encouraging and helping young people build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.

Right now, more than 40 young people are waiting for a mentor.

Your support can help us reach them.

Every donation helps us recruit, screen and train volunteer mentors, create safe and carefully considered matches, and provide the ongoing professional support that helps mentoring relationships thrive.

Whether it’s $5, $10, $25, $50 or more, every contribution makes a difference.

A huge thank you to Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne Ecosanctuary for joining Big Brothers Big Sisters Wellington as one of our valued Community Partners.

Through this partnership, Zealandia is generously providing tickets for some of our matches to visit and explore this incredible place together.

One of our matches, Sinead (mentor/tuakana) and Scarlett-Rose (mentee/teina), recently headed along and had a fantastic time exploring Zealandia together. They really enjoyed themselves and made the most of the opportunity to spend some quality time together.

For our matches, experiences like this are about more than a day out. They create new experiences, spark curiosity and, most importantly, give our mentors and mentees the chance to have fun and strengthen their connection.

We’re incredibly grateful to Zealandia for supporting our mentoring programme and helping create memorable experiences for our tamariki, rangatahi and mentors.

Could there be a future paramedic among our mentoring matches? We certainly think so!

Our Big Brothers Big Sisters matches recently had an incredible behind-the-scenes visit to Wellington Free Ambulance, where they stepped inside an ambulance, explored the life-saving equipment, and discovered what it takes to respond when someone dials 111.

From learning how the ambulance is set up to seeing the technology paramedics use every day, our young people asked thoughtful questions, explored every corner, and even got to sit in the driver's seat. It wasn't just about ambulances—it was about inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and showing that careers helping others are within reach.

You never know... today's curious visitor could be tomorrow's paramedic, making a difference when their community needs them most.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Wellington Free Ambulance generously sharing your time, knowledge, and passion. Experiences like these help our young people dream bigger, discover new possibilities, and see that with encouragement and support, anything is possible.

Before being matched with his mentor, T (10) struggled with confidence and often felt left out at school. He didn’t think he was good at anything.

Since being matched, his mentor has shown up every week—shooting hoops, and just listening. Slowly, T has started to believe in himself. He’s now putting his hand up in class, made new friends, and even joined a sports team for the first time.

That one consistent relationship changed everything.

Our Big Brothers Big Sisters Wellington Big Breakfast & Charity Auction is just two weeks away, and we'd love to see you there!

Exciting News!

We’re thrilled to share that we are finalists in every city across the Wellington region for the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards!

These awards are first judged at a local council level—across Wellington City, Porirua, Hutt City, Upper Hutt, and Kāpiti—before winners go on to compete at the regional finals.

And to top it off… last night we took out the Education & Child/Youth Development category for Wellington City! Supporting the learning and growth of young people is at the heart of what we do, so this recognition means so much.

We’re looking forward to attending the upcoming ceremonies across the region along with the other finalists..
