How Pasifika Hub started ...

It took COVID-19 for three Pasifika women from the Hutt Valley to come together. Each shared their own experiences of Pacific families desperate need for help since New Zealand’s state of emergency lockdown. Many needed food packs and many were frustrated with engaged 0800 numbers, long wait times and confusing messages.

With different disciplines and natural abilities in each of them, they concluded with tasks, including to reach out to Pasifika champions and leaders who can contribute and work together as a collective to respond more effectively to their communities.

Within a week Pasifika Hub was set up. The social impact was immediate. Conversations with Pacific champions and a viral online form led to a partnership with local agencies who delivered emergency food packs to over 1,500 Pacific families.

They are here for the long term … so watch this space for all their projects and how you can get involved. If you can help or would like to donate please contact the team through messenger or by email [email protected].
