Firewood fundraiser

Allan Mc Comb had kindly managed to organise a firewood day at Papaitonga
lake Rd. Trees supplied by a very generous club member. All the funds go back into the club to help make us what we are and help restock the Mangahao house firewood supply for the winter.

Although we got info out to everyone a bit later than we would have liked, we managed a good crew for the day and got roughly 25-26cube of Gum split and delivered to its correct destinations including a load up to our Mangahao house the following day.

A big thanks is due to the land/wood owner, organisers, people that fronted up with gear for us all to use and finally all those that turned up on the day to run the splitters, saws, swing an axe, load the truck and deliver! Also those that organised the feed and a refreshment or two at the end of the day.
Cheers everyone, HHC

•Levin Pistol Club Evening

For the September Meeting (changed to end Of August) the club had an evening with the levin pistol club at their range underneath the scout hall next to the clubrooms.
It was a well run event that all who participated really enjoyed, the pistol club set up a friendly competition shoot for all our members to partake in which brought out the natural competition in us all.
The pistol club was really inviting and are a bunch of down-to-earth good sorts who enjoy all the things we do about shooting.
The competition was 3 rounds of 5 shots per round with 5 sighters to get your
eye in there was some great shooting from our club for a bunch of first time
pistol shooters with the top place Being Myself, second place was our range
Guru Mark Goss, followed by new member Rob Abbott in 3rd.
So watch this space as we will be making this a yearly event in the Calander as
we need someone to come knock me off the top spot, Haha. A few targets from the night below.

•Mangahao House Winter Social weekend

On the weekend of the 23rd & 24th of august we had a social gathering at the Mangahao house, which was attended by a good group of club members.

Some stayed the two days others just came along for the evening. Gavin kindly cooked up an epic feed on the Saturday
night in his trusty cast iron camp oven beautifully tender roast pork with a little bit of crackle to boot.

After dinner alan got the trusty projector out and played a few of his classic comedy skits and a few other miscellaneous movies. On the Sunday a few members got out for au
walk but didn’t have any luck, which is why they call it hunting not catching.
All in all it was a great weekend and well be doing more of these weekends as the house is a great asset to the club and needs to be used.
