Lions were busy this afternoon giving the Pick and Shovel Monument a well deserved tidy up. The monument stands as a memorial to the pioneer miners who helped shape our district and was erected as part of Lawrence’s Centennial Celebrations in 1961

Is it better to spend a weekend in Lawrence or Tapanui - was last nights debate topic, with great banter. Thank you Tapanui Lions for making the trek over to Lawrence for the epic debate, the gloves came off and debated the ultimate question. A fierce battle of wits and some humour. Tapanui brought their A-game but in the end the superior destination prevailed, Lawrence for the win 🏆

Lawrence Lions Changeover last night at the Waitahuna Station Goods Shed Cafe Welcoming in Min as our new President by Andrew, many thank yous and reflections on the year just been, year tabs were given out and President’s Award presented to Paul E. Thank you Ailsa, Bob and the team for the delicious meal, it was so lovely to be able to celebrate our new year at your stunning venue

What a great night! A huge thank you to absolutely everyone, what a great community we live in, results will be in the Tuapeka Times this week. Our wonderful cooks once again produced a delicious meal and had plenty left over, so we were able to dish up and deliver a good number of roast meals to our elderly residents

Look out for the swede box located at Waitahuna when you are passing through. Lots of Swedes - Rutabagas - Neeps - Tumshies and apparently they are nice in a Curry Swede Soup

What a fantastic afternoon out for our Lions Club visiting Heli Otago yesterday. It was incredible to see what the Gale family and team have accomplished amongst all the challenges thrown their way. The helicopter flight simulator is a critical tool for pilot training, Paramedic training programmes, extensive fleet complete with the tidiest workshop I have ever seen, and purpose built facility is certainly world class and a true credit to everyone involved
