Last day of Term3.
9am and the hose was on and some serious water pipe engineering was underway that lasted all session (with breaks for snacks in the sun, chicken feeding, jumping and forwards rolls)

Children have different agendas to adults when it comes to sensory play.
It started as slime, then there were spoons, then dye, then scrapers...the adults didn't envision the addition of sand then water followed by paddling, slipping and sliding and a swim!

The firepit is a wonderful way for children, parents and families to come together. Creating memories and taste sensations. Its real life skills, risk, rules and fun.

"The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day"...except we didn't because we went to Kerikeri Playcentre and we made "fizzy bubblies" and we rode bikes and we painted our faces to become "rainbow men" and butterflies

Todays kitchen helper made spinach, cheese & sundried tomato scones for morning tea.
Baking is rich in mathematical, scientific, sensory and social learning....and the best bit is always the taste testing and sharing our tasty kai.

What can happen in one session at Kerikeri Playcentre ?
Waterplay, digger excavation in the sandpit, teamwork raking leaves, potion making, family play, obstacle courses, dinosaurs, playdough creations, baking, painting, books, puzzles, conquering the flying fox and roaring down the slide.

SCIENCE IN THE SANDPIT.
The sun was shining so of course there was waterplay at Kerikeri Playcentre. Today we added some vinegar and baking soda and created "fizzies" and "bubbleys". Hands on science experiments such as this are great introductions into the wonderful world of science. Its fun, its fast and it's fizzing.
