It’s been a whole week today since we opened Te Amo Pūtoro to our community! It has been so incredible to see the space filled with laughter, movement, and connection, and to feel all the feels that we knew would come with that!

A beautiful morning this morning, as we blessed and opened Te Amo Pūtoro with all the hands that brought this space to life for our hāpori.

Ko te tikanga o te ingoa o Kororipo e hāngai pū anā ki te riporipo o te wai i te wā e āwhā ana.
Ka mutu, he rite tēnei āhua ki ngā kōrero tohetohe ki runga i te pā.

The name Kororipo refers to the swirling waters that were made during floods and storms.
The name was also likened to the fiery debates that were held on the pā.

This kōrero toku iho, or story of place, is one of 6 stories that Ngāti Rēhia have shared with Te Amo Pūtoro. The story is told through play, designed by our local rangatahi, inside of our māra hūpara. We can’t wait for you all to explore, and to get to know these stories through play and connection!

PLANTING WORKING BEE || Saturday, 8am to 12pm

Last push, e te whānau! If you are able to koha some time (and muscle, the ground is HARD!) we will be planting out at Te Amo Pūtoro from 8am to 12pm, tomorrow (Saturday 20/09). We don’t have tools to share, so please BYO spade/shovel, and gloves if you prefer them. Make sure you bring a water bottle too; it’s hot work!

It’s important that we don’t have our play equipment used until it has been certified and then blessed by mana whenua, so if tamariki are coming in to the site, they will need to be fully supervised and kept off the equipment. We know this is hōhā, but we need to do everything we can to get our space opened as soon as we can, for our whole community to enjoy!

HELP! Calling all arborists!

We have found ourselves short in mulch for our planted spaces, and desperately need some (donated!? 🤞) arborist mulch to finish our planting off. Please let us know if you can help with dumping some at site for us?
