Ngāti Hine ki Waiomio and Ngāti Kahu o Torongare ki Waiomio held their voting hui on Saturday 18 April at Mohinui Marae.

Ngāti Hine ki Waiomio voted first, and voted to support the resolution.
VOTING RESULTS:
WHARE
Ae - 33
Kāhore - 2
Abstained - 7
ONLINE
Ae - 43
Kāhore - 1
Abstained - 0

It was a full whare, with strong kōrero shared throughout the day. Discussions focused on the importance of having the information, the readiness of some whānau to participate in voting on such a significant matter, and the need to continue strengthening understanding of the kaupapa alongside our shared whakapapa.

In good faith, the whare collectively agreed that Ngāti Kahu o Torongare ki Waiomio would not proceed with voting on the day, and that the vote would instead be postponed to a later date.

All votes already received through the online and ballot system will be securely recorded and held. These will be added to the final results when the whare reconvenes to complete the voting process.

We extend our sincere thanks to the whānau of Mohinui Marae for their awesome manaaki. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou mō tō manaaki, tō tautoko hoki.
