Katikati Community Sport and Recreation Centre Project

March 2026 Update

The Katikati Sport and Recreation Centre project is making further progress albeit it being rather slow due to consent processes, supply delays and the occasional changing goal posts.

Onsite, the SMARTSTEEL steel framing has been gradually growing in shape and soon the cladding and joinery will occur to enclose the building. The project is facing extensive Power connection delays due to the areas infrastructure design and possible changes being made to this current infrastructure. Connection service companies are apparently backlogged by months of jobs waiting to be completed and cannot schedule when any new actual work can be done.
There is a risk is the project may have most of the build completed and still be waiting on the power to be connected.

Delays are created by every required change or request for more information by another 20 odd days and like any project this puts economic and financial pressures on the build.

The Project team also recently pro-actively applied for CCTV coverage for the area but was unfortunately unsuccessful.
Given the most recent spate of vandalism occurring and the history of other criminal events at Moore Park and that new public toilets will exist, we are hopeful Council and Councillors will engage and look closely at the issue of security and public safety going forward.

Completion date of the build is now somewhat speculative due to the above factors and we are looking at it being closer to the mid-year mark.

The centre is still looking for Charitable Donations, Personal or Business Sponsorship. A new brochure will be out soon offerign some great new opprotunites to be involved.

Recently The Grassroots TruGrassroots Trusteen wonderful in providing further funding for the project.

Individual donation pamphlets are still available, please feel free to get in contact to discuss. Email: [email protected]

🎉⚽ RAFFLE WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT! ⚽🎉

The Katikati Football Club is proud to share the exciting results of our recent raffle, held in support of the amazing new Katikati Sport & Recreation Centre project!

🥁🥁🥁 Drum roll please… 🥁🥁🥁

🏆 A HUGE congratulations to our major prize winner — ADEN MANNING! 🏆

Aden has won the incredibly generous prize of a Fujitsu Heat Pump — the perfect way to stay warm this winter and cool through summer! What a fantastic prize!

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank every single person who bought tickets, sold tickets, and supported this raffle. Because of you, we’ve raised valuable funds that will go directly towards this major community project. Your support truly makes a difference to our club and our wider community.

This raffle would not have been possible without our incredible sponsors — especially our major sponsor, Western Bay Air Conditioning.

Mark and his team have been long-time supporters of Katikati Football, always putting their hand up to help — whether it’s backing our summer skills programme or supporting our teams. Their generosity in donating the Fujitsu Heat Pump made this raffle possible, and we are so grateful.

If you’re looking to keep your home comfortable year-round, we encourage you to shop local and support Western Bay Air Conditioning — a business that continually supports our community.

Once again, thank you to everyone who got behind this raffle. You’ve all helped make a real difference, and we couldn’t do it without you! 💙⚽

Centre Update: Jan 2026

Happy New Year everyone. We hope this all finds you and your families in good health and enjoying a well-earned break.

A quick update on the build.
Many will have seen that the excavation and building slab have been completed.
The building structure will start to go up in early Jan with many other bits of work going on around it.

We have been hit with a few curve balls with additional building requirements which have caused delays to consent processes, but we are slowly getting there.

We also have to put in a completely new power supply which will cost an extra $30k. Wonderfully Grassroots have helped with $10k of this cost and we are seeking further grant and donation support.

The Lease and Funding Agreements with Council have been signed off, so this is a major milestone.

We are still in the process of raising the last $200 - $250k for the internal fit out, which is needed to allow the building to be finished and fit for use.

Individual donations are still trickling in and in the next few weeks we will publish a major donation/sponsorship opportunity for naming rights sponsorship for individual spaces in the building.
Some exciting ways to create a bit of family or business legacy.
