RABBIT CONTROL — LOWER CLUTHA FLOOD BANKS
We wish to inform you that Otago Regional Council (ORC) contractors will be undertaking night shoots
to
control rabbit populations on ORC flood banks in the Lower Clutha area between 05" October and
31% December 2026.
Shooting will occur over several nights during the hours of 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Two main shooting
operations are planned: one in mid-October and another beginning in late November. Police will be
notified of these activities, and no shooting will take place within 50 metres of any residential
dwellings.
This operation will cover ORC-owned floodbanks in the Lower Clutha. Maps of the operational areas
are included with this letter and are also available on our website:

ORC maintains approximately 111 km of floodbanks in the Lower Clutha, which provide vital flood
protection for people, property, and livestock during flood events from the Clutha River.
Under the Regional Pest Management Plan for Otago, land occupiers are responsible for rabbit
control. As such, ORC is taking proactive measures to manage rabbit populations on its floodbanks.

Rabbits are a serious threat to our biodiversity and environment. They ruin beautiful landscapes with rabbit holes, and cause soil erosion and degradation.

Building Kaitangata’s emergency resilience – Meeting #2



Are you interested in being part of Kaitangata Community Response Plan for Civil Defence emergencies? Then come along to our 2nd meeting at the Kaitangata Town Hall on Wednesday, 1 July at 6pm.
At our last meeting we heard about how Response Groups work.
This time, we want to form the dedicated response group and make a plan to get stuff done! Come along, all welcome.

Just a bit of an update post from the Pool committee. Heaps has been happening at the pool over the last few months. New windows have been installed, flash new pool liner installed two heat pumps for heating the pool are placed all new pipe work and dosing system are near completion. The committee would like to thank all the trades involved in this massive project although we are not finished yet we are well on the way. Keep an eye out for updates.
