Greetings and salutations....again

My apologies for the "next new and exciting" when the last one has barely hit the ground. It does not pay too have too many pieces of paper with notes on as they can get scrambled.... A bit like eggs, but not nearly as tasty.

However:

MenzShed Kaitāia

I had a lovely chat to one of the Menzshed Committee members this morning and thought you and yours might want to know what they are up to.

First off: it ain't just for men. It's lovely to see an organisation that knows that being creative and resourceful and helping fix things is not just a male thing. Way to go Committee!!!!

Secondarily: they have a bigger brighter base, which means more room to fix stuff and be the creative you always knew you were. Just look for the BIG shed next to "All Sorts" at the Kaitaia Recycling Centre.

Thirdly: the group gather twice a week: Monday and Wednesday's starting at 9:30 AM. I am reliably informed that 9:30 is not exactly the start of a shift: more like "time to put the kettle".

So, if this sounds like you, why not pop in and have a chat cause, let's face it, the world needs more creatives.

Greetings and Salutations

Another wonderful day in Te Hiku...the forecast says rain, but we tend to do it our way :)

A couple of quick reminders for all of you out there in Face Plant land:

1. FREE legal clinic. Our next clinic (28 January starting at 2:00 PM) is already FULLY BOOKED. The next available clinic is Wednesday 11 February. Please contact the Centre ASAP or sooner, so that we can get you some time with our beloved legal eagles.

2. Incorporated Society Re-Registration. Yep, We are a cracked record when it comes to this...sorry (but not really).
I have come across an interesting statement regarding what happens if registration is NOT complete. The link is below. However, some of the implications are:
1. Loss of the Society's legal status and possible loss of control over the Society assets.
2. Members COULD be liable for any debt.
3. Loss of the Society's ability to approach funders for such things as special events or planned equipment purchases.
So, if you know anyone that is at all associated with a Society please ask how they are progressing with the necessary changes. And if help is needed, we are literally a phone call away.

3. Number three can wait for our next venture in Face Plant land....

Have a stupendous week y'all

PS: our beloved volunteer John (he prefers Johno) send warm regards from Auck-Land :)

Greetings Te Hiku and welcome to heat Wave City

I'm not sure how they calculate the temperature (I do know, but the explanation will have you yawning in about 10 seconds) but its WAY different than what we had yesterday. Have a wee gander belowπŸ«₯πŸ«₯.....
FREE LEGAL CLINIC. Our first clinic for the year is due on the 28 January and is filling fast. If you or a loved one need legal advice, please contact the Centre ASAP and we will book an appointment at the earliest available time.

IRD ADVICE. We have had a wonderful offer from a superbly qualified chartered accountant, who is happy to run clinics to aid you in your dealings with our beloved Inland Revenue Dept. All you need to know and available for FREE! If you believe this would benefit you or yours, please email ASAP so that we can get the wheels in motion. PLEASE NOTE: the clinic will be on an advice only basis and will not be to complete your tax returns for you.

CHARITIES CHANGES. Don't forget to tell all your friends who are involved with local Charities or Sports Clubs about the changes to legislation, and the need to act NOW. The clock is ticking, people....

That's about us for now. Have a lovely week.

Greetings one and all and Welcome to 2026!

Another beautiful day in Te Hiku: the sun is shining, the breeze is soothing and the KPC team are back! Well some of us are :)

Just a quick post today, especially for those of you that are associated in ANY way with a charity or sports group.

Following a change in law, Incorporated Societies and some sports clubs have until the 5 APRIL 2026 to complete the re-registration process.
Failure to complete the process will result in the club/society being limited in their ability to raise funds and entering into contracts. This could also result in the organisation being DISSOLVED.
I've copied a couple of links below which outline the information in more detail.
IF you know ANYONE associated with a club or Incorporated Society, have a chat to them. Its not too late, but time is running out fast.
And, of course, if you require any further information please email us at: [email protected].

What a year ! I wish to thank one and all for the amazing support, seriously, we couldn't have done it without you guys, so a huge out to firstly to our sponsors and everyone else who have supported us. We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year

30/11/2025

Hi everyone and welcome to summer: officially!
Yes folks, 1 December is the start of what I am certain will be long warm days in our wonderful motu. Hopefully the muggy nights won't feature, although the team here is divided: some heat first, cold a distant second. Others (read: one male volunteer, who is to remain nameless), would sooner roll around in the snow.........
HOT DATES
FREE LEGAL CLINIC
Just a quick reminder that our last Free Legal Clinic's will finish on the tenth, (10/12/2025) for the year.
At this stage we are fully booked, however if you ring the Centre we can add your name to our wait list, for clients who have a change of heart. PLEASE NOTE: we can't promise you will be seen but we will do our best.
CHRISTMAS CLOSURE
The Centre will be closed from 12:00 midday on Friday 19/12 until Monday 5/1/26.
That's us: short and sweet.
Regards
