Tai Tokerau Timebank

Tai Tokerau Timebank A community of local people who share their time and skills to support others, and get what they need as well. Everyone's time is considered equal.

We cover the whole of Northland and have a team of local coordinators to support our members. Having vibrant, healthy, interconnected communities, are acknowledged as the life force of our country. Timebanking has been in Aotearoa New Zealand about 15 years. It facilitates the sharing of skills between its members, both individuals and community groups. Timebanking creates and promotes well-being,

helping communities flourish and thrive. Timebanking activity is measured by the time it takes to complete a piece of work. Timebanking has many unique features that strengthen the fabric of society, building up the non market economy by initiating shifts in our collective way of thinking. All communities can benefit from Time Banking!

Whangārei Timebankers were out and about at the official opening of Kāinga Ora’s new homes on the Avenues.
Jeannette, Harvey, Clare, Nicholas and Janey were invited by Zephyr, the Community Development & Engagement Manager, to introduce He Awhi Rito Envirohub (H.A.R.E.) and its community gardens.
Kapa haka was performed by the award-winning group from Hora Hora Primary School.
There are 95 homes in the development which is the largest of its kind in Northland.
Outdoor space is limited so the possibility of residents using H.A.R.E.’s raised beds to grow veggies is being explored.
