And just like that e te iwi, Youth Week has come to an end!

It’s been such a fun week sharing our videos and celebrating our amazing rangatahi, and we’re wrapping it all up with the final episode of our *Youth Voice Series*! 🗣️

For this last episode, we passed the mic to Urbane Tahitahi-Matiu, a confident, community-driven 16-year-old tauira from Kaitāia College. Coming from a whānau of strong community pillars who serve wholeheartedly, it’s no surprise to see those same values shine through in this rangatahi!

Just a reminder that nominations for our rangatahi giveaway are now officially closed. Over the weekend we’ll be taking the time to read through all the beautiful nominations and acknowledgements, and we’ll announce our special winner next Wednesday!

A huge mihi to everyone who got behind our Youth Week online campaign and helped uplift the voices of our rangatahi here in Kaitāia, Te Hiku o Te Ika🫶🏽

And to sign off for our rangatahi, it doesn’t stop here, EVERY WEEK: “Your voices matter, and you deserve to be HEARD!”

Ari from CAYAD here again for Youth Week!

Yesterday, we hit the streets of Kaitāia to kōrero with rangatahi in our hapori and hear what they love most about being young and living in Kaitāia 🥳

As Youth Week starts to wrap up, we’re feeling all the aroha that’s been shared so far. Keep those nominations coming in, e te iwi, we see and appreciate every single one🙌🏽

Kia mau tonu mai!

“I feel heard the most when I get the opportunity to speak.”

Yesterday, we sat down with a rangatahi to kōrero about what it’s like being a rangatahi in Kaitāia, alongside this year’s national theme: “Our voices matter, we deserve to be heard.”

Throughout this week, we’ll be releasing a series of rangatahi interviews to provide a platform for our young people to speak openly and for our community to hear directly from the voices of rangatahi.

In this episode, we spoke with Hineteaio Chapman, a well-spoken, aspiring athlete and 16-year-old tauira from Te Rangi Āniwaniwa, who shared her perspective and experiences on what it means to feel heard as a young person in Kaitāia.

Mai i Waimanoni ki Te Oneroa a Tohe🌊

Nō tērā wiki timata ai ngā hararei mō ngā kura p**a noa i te motu. Ko ngā kaimahi tērā o Te Rarawa Anga Mua i whakahaerengia ngā kaupapa mō ngā mokopuna o Te Hiku.

What an incredible start to the school holidays for our tamariki of Te Hiku!

Our kaimahi went above and beyond to create a week full of fun, learning, and connection for all ages. With Te Pūtātara in Ahipara and Pou Tuarongo in Waimanoni, there was truly something for everyone.

From exploring rongoā with Whaea Jo to hands-on mahi taiao alongside Pou Taiao from Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa, it was a week filled with meaningful experiences and smiling faces.

Kia haumaru!
