Rongopai House Community Trust

Rongopai House Community Trust A safe and supportive space for māmā to build the skills and confidence to care for themselves, their pēpi and whānau in Te Hiku. There is no cost to attend.

Feed My Lambs is an initiative of Rongopai House Community Trust, Kaitaia. Our flagship programme, ‘Feed My Lambs’, offers practical, empowering support for mothers and their tamariki. Feed My Lambs runs on Tuesdays mornings for 2.5 hours during term time. Support continues for as long as it is needed. Each session is attended by up to 25 women and their babies following an agency referral or self

referral. Feed My Lambs sessions are relaxed, encouraging and informative, with Rongopai or guest speakers covering health and wellbeing topics such as:
baby development: playing and connecting with baby:
establishing boundaries: early childhood education options: pregnancy and health issues:
drug and alcohol issues:
cooking and budgeting skills: housekeeping skills:
stress management: conflict resolution: building a healthy self image:
understanding love languages: restoring whanau relationships:
health and dental checks;
arts and crafts:
first aid certificates and drivers’ licences:
community support networks
Many mothers and babies attending Feed My Lambs have had a difficult start in life, so we work hard to create a safe, supportive environment so they can take steps toward a brighter future for their whanau. We journey with each mother long term, providing one-on-one mentoring and whanau support, where possible, through our wider Rongopai services. This page is for anyone interested in getting involved, supporting us with practical needs or praying for the work of Rongopai House in the Far North. Welcome and thank you! This week at Feed my Lambs, our session was all about whakawhanaungatanga, showing manaaki to each other, creativity, and having lots of fun while relaxing and enjoying each others company over baking tips.

We extend a welcome to any new Mama and their Tamariki who are interested in attending our parenting support group, who are looking to connect, while learning and filling their Kite (Basket of Knowledge) on their journey. Check out our website and page for further details. Nau mai, Haere mai!!!!

What a great week we have had at Feed my Lambs!!! We were fortunate to have the Matua Atawhai Parenting Programme from Far North REAP Kaitaia share with our whānau this week about their 6-week course 💛
Grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā and practical, real-life parenting tools, this kaupapa supports parents and caregivers to grow confidence, strengthen connections, and nurture their tamariki in a safe and empowering space.
This week they gave us a small taster of what their course covers, encouraging deep and meaningful thinking, reflection and sharing as a whanau at Feed my Lambs🌿. If you are interested in attending their next course starting in July, please reach out via email [email protected], their page or website

🌿✨ A Heartwarming Day at Feed My Lambs ✨🌿
We had such a great session together this week at Feed My Lambs, filled with learning, connection, and a whole lot of kindness 💛
A big thank you to the Te Hiku Hauora Mokopuna Āke Immunisation Service who joined us to share important kōrero around immunisations and keeping our pēpi and tamariki safe and well. It was a supportive and welcoming space where our māmā could ask questions, share their experiences, and feel empowered in their parenting journey
We are also incredibly grateful to be able to be gifted warm PJs to our whānau to keep them warm this winter, generously donated by The Kindness Collective Foundation (The PJ Project) in collaboration with The Warehouse
Seeing the smiles on our tamariki and māmā as they received these was truly special – ngā mihi nui for your kindness and aroha!
Moments like these remind us how powerful community is when we come together to uplift and support one another

Kia Ora Koutou, you may have noticed that we have been a bit quiet over the last few weeks with our Rongopai House Posts however we are now back after some changes that our service has been going through.

Great to be back with you all!!!!!

This week at Feed my Lambs, we celebrated raising awareness, understanding and overcoming boundaries around Womens Health issues and experiences. We were fortunate to have the team from Te Hiku Hauora and Whakapiri Ora to present to us on their Kaupapa, Te Aho Tapu Wahine Hauora service. This is a great kaupapa (purpose) acknowledging that womens health matters, periods and womens health are part of life, but that doesnt mean you have to push through pain, heaviness or worry on your own.

Just one of the ways that our programme brings our community together and our Whanau to link up with their relevant services and support. Thank you to Te Hiku Hauora for one of the many great supports that you provide to our community.

What a way to celebrate Easter at Feed My Lambs this week! 🐣🌸

We came together as whānau to mark this special time of year — with Easter quizzes, games, creative activities and of course an Easter egg hunt that had our tamariki absolutely buzzing with excitement! 🥚✨

But alongside all the fun, we took a moment to reflect on what Easter is really about. Hope. New life. New beginnings. Those themes sit close to the heart of everything we do at Rongopai House.

Ngā mihi to our Feed My Lambs team for creating such a beautiful, welcoming space.

Happy Easter to all our whānau across Kaitaia. 🧡

What a beautiful session at Feed My Lambs this week! 🌟

Kate from our HIPPY programme brought Diamond Art to our whānau and watching māmā and pēpi create together was something special.

More than just a craft, these sessions are about connection. Tiny hands building fine motor skills and focus, caregivers and tamariki sharing a calm creative moment together, and whānau leaving with simple, practical ideas for bringing creative play home.

Ngā mihi to Kate and to every māmā and pēpi who came along. 🧡✨

Two years ago Kindness Collective Foundation and Mitre 10 New Zealand came all the way to Kaitaia and built something truly special for our whānau and tamariki.

Our whānau are still enjoying this to it's potential everyday. Our centre is now constantly full of laughter, play and connection. Exactly what our tamariki deserve.

We are so grateful. This is what community looks like. 🧡✨

This week at Feed My Lambs, our māmā and whānau took part in an important and empowering learning session facilitated by Shalom First Aid, focusing on basic CPR and emergency response for infants and children ❤️

The session gave our māmā the opportunity to learn practical, lifesaving skills in a supportive and culturally safe environment. Together they explored how to recognise medical emergencies, when to act, and how to respond calmly and effectively while waiting for emergency services.

It was fun to have some hands-on demonstrations and practice, we learned age-appropriate CPR techniques for pēpi and tamariki. The session also created space for open kōrero where māmā could ask questions and build confidence in their ability to respond in critical situations.

As always, drop us a note if you'd like to be a part of our next session 😊

Our Tuesday the Feed My Lambs session brought our māmā together for a fun hands-on cooking activity in the kitchen. 🥒🍣

This week we learned how to make sushi, with everyone getting involved in preparing ingredients, rolling, and creating their own plates to take home. It was a great chance to try something new while building confidence with simple, healthy kai that can easily be made for whānau.

The room was full of laughs and kōrero and māmā supported each other and shared tips along the way.

If you're interested in learning more about our programmes and how to get involved, please get in touch!

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible wāhine who stand beside our whānau every day at Rongopai House.

These women bring strength, kindness and heart to our space. Through their care and commitment our pēpi, tamariki and whānau are supported to feel safe, seen and valued.

The mahi they do each day helps build strong foundations for our community. We are grateful for the aroha they bring and the difference they make in the lives of the families we walk alongside.

Today we celebrate the wāhine of our team and the many women in our community who uplift and support others - we couldn't do this mahi with out you!

Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at Rongopai House.
