The Lions Club of Seaward Kaikoura Assisting youth is a priority for our funds.

The Lions Club of Seaward Kaikoura was chartered in February 1992 and has a very high profile in the Kaikoura community, being involved in many service and fundraising projects.

Today, on World Environment Day, we're giving a huge thank you to Lions Clubs New Zealand, who run the KanTabs recycling initiative, which makes a real difference for our kidney kids.

Check out this photo shared by Oxford & Districts Lions Club of a trailer loaded with 224kg of aluminium cans, ready to be recycled to raise funds for Kidney Kids NZ.

Those little tabs really do add up to something pretty amazing šŸ§”

WHY AM I A LION

*** I joined the Seaward Lions of Kaikōura in February 2018
*** I Joke that I live in a fluoro volunteer vest but being a
volunteer and serving our community is what I love.

*** We had only moved just before the earthquake and I didnā€™t know many people. So when I was approached by my sponsor to join the Club, it felt a great way to join a big volunteering group and meet like minded people;

*** Being a Lion is so rewarding. * you develop trusting friendships with a new group of people * utilise your current skills and learn new ones * have numerous strengths to give back to our community (which I do with multiple hats on) * learn the value of participating in activities to enrich other peopleā€™s lives * you can share ideas * nut out problems together and reach an amicable solution
- all the while having fun and enjoying the camaraderie of your fellow Club members.
Really, what more could you ask for?

*** For the last couple of years, I have been fortunate to wear the MARCOM
hat for our Club. Marketing and promotion is crucial to help sustain and grow the Club by:
* raising the public's awareness of what we do.
* encourage collaboration with like minded local community groups..

*** if you arenā€™t a member, this is designed to convince you to join! You should give it serious consideration
We not only meet for a monthly dinner and get together, thereā€™s guests to find out local info, thereā€™s weekly catch ups with our environment group picking up rubbish, or a group knitting babies singlets for the hospital or breakfast / lunch catch-ups - were a social bunch! Thereā€™s something for all agesā€¦. Our next event is raising $$ for our community through our Lipsync night. (Gifting money to a deserving local group is so rewarding)
