Graeme Dingle Foundation Far North

Graeme Dingle Foundation Far North Graeme Dingle Foundation Far North delivers Kiwi Can and Career Navigator Ngā Ara Whetū programme Kiwi Can has been delivered by us since 2001.

Graeme Dingle Foundation Far North (previously known as Whangaroa Kiwi Can Charitable Trust) delivers the Kiwi Can Programme to 11 schools in the North. We also deliver the Career Navigator Ngā Ara Whetū programme in 2 local high schools. This programme is a combined peer mentoring and work readiness programme. The charity’s aim is ‘empowering kids to overcome life's obstacles’. Our programmes hel

p break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by increasing the physical and mental wellbeing of our young people – leading to higher aspirations and greater contribution to the economy of Aotearoa through future study and employment. The impact our programmes have on young people is that they become more confident and resilient to life’s challenges. Through our programmes these young people are fostering positive attitudes and setting goals to reach their full potential. As a result of a stronger youth population, our community benefits to the tune of nearly $8 for every $1 invested in our programmes, in the form of; reduced crime, young people getting better jobs, fewer young people becoming, dependent on benefits. We are sponsored by Moana NZ, Bidfood, Rothbury's and D & M Godfrey and receive grants assistance from Lotteries Commission, Northland Foundation and Community Organisation Grants. The Graeme Dingle Foundation is a leading organisation in youth development in NZ. Find out more about Kiwi Can and Ngā Ara Whetū at: www.dinglefoundation.org.nz

We were pleased to partner with Ngati Kahu Social & Health Services ,Rangaunu Sports Club and Enviro Schools to host our annual Kiwi Can Waka Ama regatta at Lake Ngatu, Awanui today.

About 64 students from Te Hapua, Ngataki, Kaingaroa, Oruaiti and Totara North participated in the regatta and the land based activities run by Morag, Shoda and Zoey from Enviro Schools.

It was a full on day, where our tamariki experienced the thrill of paddling a double hulled waka and mixed this up with making seeds balls! There will be a few tired tamariki tonight! Special thanks to Kylie, Bonnie, Nyrelle, Jessie, Hilda and the or making this happen.

We also wish to thank our sponsors the AK Franks Charitable Trust and the Mangonui Lions Club for their generous support.

Our Team travel long distances in the Far North to deliver Kiwi Can and Nga Ara Whetu-Career Navigator. Jeremy and Tabby want to share a typical day in the life of a Kiwi Can leader. Have a look at this 😊.
Thank you again to the Bay of Islands -Whangaroa Community Board and the Te Hiku Community Board for believing in us and supporting our mahi. ❤️

We want to thank the Bay of Islands -Whangaroa Community Board and the Te Hiku Community Board for their continued support in helping our leaders deliver Kiwi Can to eleven primary schools in the Far North.
Sometimes our leaders travel distances of over 300 km a day to deliver Kiwi Can to such schools like Te Hapua and Ngataki. This couldn't be done with your support.
Thank you for valuing the mahi we do.

Apart from being awarded the Kiwi Can Outstanding Leader award at last months Excellence Awards in Auckland, our very own Jeremy Birchall is also a performing arts teacher and our resident "film producer". Enjoy some footage Jeremy put together from our Drop 4 Youth event a couple of weeks ago.

We're still buzzing about Drop 4 Youth last weekend. Our local reporter Marama, managed to interview one our jumpers, Kowhai, and a few other witnesses who were there to see the event. Timeless footage... enjoy 😊
