Wellington Quilters is a group that meets monthly in central Johnsonville, runs workshops and other events, supports charity.

"Many of you will not have met my late husband, Peter, who supported my work for CToA (from its inception, until I resigned from my role of chair in March 2025) in numerous ways, but whom was also an artist.

We are celebrating his art with an exhibition of his work (from childhood to retirement), and we'd love it if you could join us at the Thistle Gallery to come see what he got up to ..."

Join Clare Smith on Sunday, 30 August, from 10 am to 4 pm for a Quilt As You Go workshop at Karori Arts and Crafts

Learn the popular quilt-as-you-go method to create a finished project that is both practical and beautiful. Choose to make either a lined bag or up to 4 placemats. By the end of the class, you will have a completed project to take home. Along the way, learn to turn strips and squares into a quilt, when to use a walking foot, and how to create a mitred binding.

Sashiko stitching and machine quilting will also be demonstrated as embellishment options to explore further at home.

This class is suitable for beginner quilters, though basic sewing machine experience is helpful.

This stunning quilt is "William Morris -Friends" by Ann Honeyfield.

It was awarded Excellence in Hand Stitching and Best Traditional at our recent exhibition: It's a stitch up!

Best Traditional was one of our two 'best in show' categories. Ann's quilt absolutely shone! Did you get to see it in person?

Celebrating quilts from our recent exhibition: Beautiful Africa by Suzanne Day won merit in hand quilting

"The panel in the centre was purchased in Canada, the animal fabrics are from South African fabric. I have always loved the colours of Africa and will always treasure this quilt. For its beauty and its meaning to me."

It's the last two hours of our Exhibition here at the Johnsonville Shopping Centre.

It's been a wonderfully busy morning at our Exhibition! Lots of debating over viewers choice and delight from our visitors. Lots of people seeing quilting like this for the first time too.

We're open until 4 today and tomorrow at Johnsonville Shopping Centre. Come visit us 😁

Doors are opening on our Exhibition stores in Johnsonville Shopping Centre!

We have our main display near the food court, just past Whitcoulls and our other (which you can shop in too!) near the Countdown.

We look forward to seeing you!

The quilts are in and collected! The countdown to our exhibition has officially started!

We'll be taking over two stores in Johnsonville Shopping Centre between 18-21st September. Looking forwards to seeing you there!
