Mōtītī has been like a sleeping giant, moving on a timeline that's slow & nourishing like a big bear hug from mūmMā. So much history and magic around this little paradise. It was an honor and a privilege to bring the Oro of our Tīpuna into our wharenui and onto our whenua once again. On a small Mōutere like ours, we have to make do with what we have available. Tāngata were thin on the ground due to Whānau emergencies, tangihanga. Especially our kaumātua. But I'm so greatful for our whānau that stepped up or stepped into the space out of necessity or to tautoko the Kaupapa.
It was my favorite thing to watch our Wharenui , Whenua, Moana, Kawakawa respond as we filled it up with gratitude, love and acts of appreciation.
Reciprocity was the remembering.......
One of our manuhiri said how much they take for granted and live by the system of time. Time only becomes apparent here, when there's a plane to catch, or the arrival of whānau & manuhiri..... Otherwise we are in constant flow with Te Taiao. Wake with Hineruhi and begin to rest with Hine Mārama. A special place on a timeline of her own. The place we call HOME Mōtītī Mōutere 🏝️
