Well, the 2024 IPMS NZ Nationals are over and we hope that everyone who attended enjoyed their time here in sunny Invercargill!
Overall the model expo and Nationals went very well and almost as expected. With an astounding number of model entries, the standard of which was phenomenal, the number of club members attending from all over NZ, as well as all the public through the door, we definitely should call the event a success. Likely, in most of our collective experiences, it wouldn’t be a National competition without a little controversy or the odd hiccup, and this year was no exception. There were a couple or three errors that I am aware of, both clerical and in judgment, and I take full responsibility for them. I sincerely hope that any issue or upset was minor and that it didn’t mar or detract from everyone’s weekend.
Undeniably events like this are all about the people, catching up or meeting new folk, putting faces to the many online names, telling stories and sharing experiences. I think this is the essence of these shows, and is what makes the hobby fun. It certainly doesn’t have to be a solitary activity!
I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you everyone for helping to make the 2024 Model Expo & National Competition such an awesome and memorable event. Our members who stepped up and volunteered their services worked tirelessly throughout the entire weekend and I’d personally like to thank them sincerely. And of course, the expo wouldn’t be what it was without the wonderful sponsors,

MODEL EXPO UPDATE: T minus 10 days!

We still have registrations trickling in (most of which are coming from the "local quadrant"!) And most should have received their all-important Competitor Code by now and be furiously filling out their entry forms! Roughly 20 so far are confirmed for the meal on Saturday night and we have signed up a couple more vendors to fill the spacious North lounge above the Invercargill Workingmen's Club.
Thanks to I-CUE our advertising campaign is now in full swing. Please feel free to share our poster as far and as wide as possible.
