A change to the calendar for the next few weeks, the Autumn Longplay has been postponed, so just Social Chess and Junior Chess fo the next 5 Fridays!

Except tonight, Angelina is away, so no structured Junior Chess, but juniors still welcome for some social chess.

Social Chess definitely on tonight - doors open 6:30pm, until proably 9pm at the latest.

The club is open tonight for rounds 4-6 of the Autumn Rapid.

Please be there by 7:30pm

Angelina is away, so so junior program, but juniors still welcome to come and play some chess from 630pm.

The Rapid Chess tournaments scheduled for this Sunday the 26th April are now postponed - new date to be advised.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

The next confirmed rapid tournament (junior and adult) is at XO Kids on Sunday 31 May 2026.

The Club is open tonight from 630pm, XO Kids, 9 Tay Street (up the stairs).

The Autumn Rapid starts tonight with rounds 1-3, finishes next Friday with rounds 4-6.

Junior and social chess for the youngsters and those not playing the rapid.

Don't forget that there is a chess tournament (2 actually - 1 for juniors, one for adults) at the club venue (XO Kids) thi Sunday.

$15 entry fee, lots of fun and prizes.

The Summer Rapid finished tonight.

A few players couldn't make the last 3 rounds, but we managed to get it done!

Club News #1 2026

The AGM was held on 6 March 2026, thank you for the support and input.

The new consitution was adopted at the AGM and the club was re-registered as an incorporated society yesterday.

The committee for 2026 is:

President Gary McLean
Vice President Tiwa Pene
Secretary Ashwin Gogate
Treasurer Richie Christie
Club Captain Angelina McLeod
Committee Member Tim McPherson

This year the club has held:

2 lightning events
The Summer Rapid (started 13th March)

We have had around 10 new players (mostly juniors) attend club evenings over the past few weeks - we hope that these new players have enjoyed themselves and will continue to come along - we have loved haing you here, good numbers create a great buzz and vibe!

Angelina continues to help the younger juniors and administers the NZCF chess tests (where youngsters can earn chess badges and certificates as they prove their chess skills!) - thanks hugely to Angelina for her time and enthusiasm.

Club Treasurer and chess coach Richie is off to Sri Lanka in May to participate in the Commonwealth Chess Championships - best of luck, Richie - enjoy the trip!
