🐦 **Welcome Back to Term 3!** 🐦

What a fantastic way to kick off the new term!

Our Keas started the evening by sharing stories about their school holiday adventures before getting creative, designing colourful new Keas to brighten up our den walls.

A special congratulations to our **two new Keas** and **our new leader**, who were all invested during the evening. Welcome to the Kea family—we're so glad to have you with us! 💚

Kea and Koa also headed home with some of our Keas to begin some exciting new adventures. We can't wait to hear all about what they've been up to when they return next week!

🚒 What an awesome evening for our Keas,
Getting a behind-the-scenes look at what our amazing firefighters do and learnt some really cool facts along the way.
All working towards there 'Emergency Service Better World Badge.

🔥 Did you know?

🚒 The blue cat's eyes on the road mark where fire hydrants are. Within the town boundary, they're around 95 metres apart.

💧 The water carried on a fire truck will only last two firefighters about 2½ minutes, so the driver has that time to get out, find, and connect to a water supply.

🚨 If you ever see smoke, remember: "Fire! Fire! Fire!" Then get down, get low, and get out! Go straight to your family's meeting place before calling 111. And no matter how much you love your favourite teddy, don't stop to get it!

⏱️ Firefighters have just 90 seconds from when the siren sounds to be fully dressed and ready to respond.

🩺 We also learnt that the fire station is shared with the medical response team, and every shift begins with a full check of the truck and all of its equipment to make sure everything is ready to go.

A huge thank you to the fantastic crew for giving up their time to show us around, answer all of our questions, and teach our Keas some valuable fire safety skills. We all came away with plenty of new knowledge—and a whole new appreciation for the incredible work you do! 🚒👏

📅 Keas will now take a well-earned break over the school holidays. We hope everyone has a fantastic holiday, and we look forward to seeing you all back at the Den for our normal meeting on Tuesday 21st July at 6:30pm. See you then! 😊

Lest we forget.
Today we honour and pay our respects to those who have served and continue to serve our country. May we always remember their courage and commitment to freedom.
Many of our Scouts and Kaiārahi will be attending Anzac commemorations around the motu.
