🫁 Breathe Better September | Looking after your lungs

September is Breathe Better September in Aotearoa - a time to raise awareness of respiratory conditions and encourage better lung health. The campaign was established by the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ to highlight conditions including asthma and other respiratory diseases.

Respiratory conditions can affect people of all ages. Asthma is common in Aotearoa, while conditions such as COPD can cause breathlessness, coughing, mucus and wheezing.

Ongoing breathlessness, wheezing or a persistent cough shouldn’t simply be put down to getting older. If you’re concerned about your breathing, talk to your healthcare provider.

💙 BLUE SEPTEMBER | PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

This September, we’re encouraging men to take a moment to think about their prostate health.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, and knowing the signs and understanding your risk can make a difference.

Some changes to look out for include:
• Difficulty starting or maintaining urination
• Needing to urinate more often, particularly at night
• Blood in your urine or semen
• Pain or discomfort when urinating
• Changes in sexual function

Sometimes prostate cancer causes no symptoms at all, which is why talking with your healthcare provider about your individual risk is important.
