Our Equestrian Annual General Meeting will be held this Thursday 16th April at 7:30pm at the Southland A&P Office.

We warmly invite all members and anyone with an interest in the equestrian section to come along. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past year, share ideas, and help shape the future of our equestrian community. Whether you’re a competitor, supporter, volunteer, or simply passionate about horses, your input is greatly valued.

We’d love to see some new faces and welcome anyone keen to get involved!

Best of luck to all competitors and exhibitors heading to the Wanaka A&P Show this weekend from everyone at the Southland A&P Show.

A big shout out as well to the wonderful Wanaka A&P committee who always put on a truly fabulous event. It’s the perfect way to wind up the show season at what is often considered the crème de la crème of A&P shows. And to those who are up there for a peruse and a spot of shopping-have a blast!

Lisa Hamilton continues to do an incredible job bringing PetVille to life at the Southland A&P Show. 🐑🐐🐓

Thanks to Lisa’s dedication and hard work, PetVille is always packed with a wonderful assortment of animals for everyone to see, learn about, and interact with. It’s a favourite spot for families and young animal lovers alike.

A few more highlights from a fantastic day at the 2026 Southland A&P Show 📸

From livestock and competitions to food, friends, and plenty of country atmosphere, it was great to see Donovan Park buzzing with people enjoying everything the show had to offer.

At this year’s Southland A&P Show we were proud to acknowledge three remarkable men whose dedication has helped keep the show running year after year.

Owen Anderson (left), Graham Calder (middle), and Noel Hamilton (right) together represent more than 150 years of service to the Southland A&P Show and were presented with a Royal Agricultural Society medal each by President Paula Bell (far right).

Through rain, shine, early mornings and long days, these three have always been there. If a job needs doing, they’re the first to put their hand up. Nothing is ever a worry, and their commitment, hard work and steady presence have been a cornerstone of the show for decades.

Volunteers like Owen, Graham and Noel are the engine behind events like ours. Their loyalty and contribution over so many years are something truly special, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have done for the Southland A&P Association. They’re the epitome of volunteerism, and uphold our ethos of preserving traditions for future generations.

After such a fantastic show yesterday, the rain today had already dampened spirits with our equestrian events being cancelled. Sadly, things took an even more disappointing turn overnight when the secretary’s office was broken into.

We are absolutely gutted. Money was stolen and the office was ransacked, left in a terrible mess, with result sheets scrambled, ribbons thrown into a heap, and the whole place turned upside down.

After the huge amount of work that goes into running the show, it’s incredibly disheartening to see this happen. We have been in touch with Police. If anyone saw anything suspicious around Donovan Park overnight, please get in touch or contact Police with reference number 260308/6703 👮🏻

Thank You, Southland!🤍

What a fantastic day it was at the 2026 Southland A&P Show at Donovan Park. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

To our incredible sponsors, your support keeps the show thriving and allows us to celebrate the best of rural Southland each year. To our competitors and exhibitors, thank you for bringing along such outstanding stock, skills, and talent across all sections.

We are so grateful to our trade and food vendors for creating such a vibrant show atmosphere, and to our judges, stewards, and section officials who give their time and expertise to ensure everything runs smoothly.

A very special thank you to our wonderful Secretary, Georgie Day, whose hard work behind the scenes keeps the wheels turning.

And finally, to the public of Southland who came along, supported the show, and helped create such a great buzz around the grounds…thank you. The Southland A&P Show truly is a community effort.

📣 ATTENTION EQUESTRIAN COMPETITORS 🐎

Unfortunately, due to the very poor weather forecast for tomorrow, all equestrian events scheduled for the show have been cancelled.

While this is disappointing for everyone involved, the safety of our riders & horses must come first. With the forecast conditions, it’s also important that we protect the ground and facilities to prevent unnecessary damage.

We truly appreciate the effort competitors, families, and supporters put into preparing for the show and thank you for your understanding. 🌧️

The Southland A&P Show is on today at Donovan Park from 9am, so come on down and enjoy a fantastic day out as country comes to town.

There’s something for everyone with horses, livestock, Petville, pony rides, tractor rides, live music, the food court, crafters, kids’ entertainment and plenty more happening throughout the day.
