Congratulations to Laire Purik Artist for winning the Innovation Award at the 2026 ILT Murihiku Art Awards.

The judges said Laire's work spoke to "landscape, legend and distance".

"We loved the way that the work moved and caught our eye as we walked past it. We found it innovative in the way that it bridged cultural gaps, used materials from copper fixings to transparent chiffon. It drew the viewer and connected us with the layers of memory."

Laire's prize was sponsored by the ILT 🙏🏽👏🏽

The ILT Art Awards are open daily through until 15 November at He Waka Tuia, Kelvin St, Invercargill.

Head in to check out this work - and the rest of the show - open today from 11am-2.30pm at He Waka Tuia. The show runs until 15 Novemeber.
