Lora Kurusa and Michael Stoop first met in Wellington, where they pursued their bachelor degrees in Classical Guitar Performance.

Though now based in different cities - Michael in Christchurch and Lora in Auckland - the duo established a dynamic inter-island collaboration in 2025, to present the beauty and versatility of the classical guitar duo and solo repertoire.

Their debut programme, 'Across Strings', invites audiences on an evocative musical journey through the sounds of Spain and South America. With works ranging from the nostalgic lyricism of Cavatina from The Deer Hunter, to the tango pulse of La Cumparsita and the introspective beauty of Gismonti’s Água e Vinho, their programme captures the soul, rhythm, and colour of these deeply expressive musical cultures.

'Across the Strings' offers an intimate and heartfelt evening of music, showcasing the classical guitar’s unique voice in the hands of two of New Zealand’s emerging talents.

Tickets are $30 for adults, and $20 for students and children.

As I move forward with a young family of my own and still, a great love for the road - I'll be focusing more on community and specifically on family friendly concerts for everyone ✨ I remember being inspired as a kid watching local and touring artists perform in small country halls where I come from in Australia and I hope that you and yours are able to come out and experience that feeling for yourself!

As you can see, there are a lot of shows in places that you probably didn’t expect. The plan was to take the tour to towns that don’t often get live shows this time but if we’re missing you on this trip, we hope to be back next year!

I really hope that we’re able to see you at a show along the way, whether we’re playing your town or if there’s a location that you’d like to travel to!
