What a huge few weeks for 𝗛𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 — and so much to celebrate! 🎉

1️⃣At this week's meeting, we were treated to 𝟱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, including an incredible 𝟰 '𝙄𝙘𝙚 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙧' 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 from brand new members. Seeing new voices step up with courage, authenticity, and energy was a powerful reminder of what Toastmasters is all about.

2️⃣We were also honoured to have our esteemed guest 𝗔𝗸𝗶𝗸𝗼 join us this week and deliver the 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. Her expert feedback gave us valuable insights into how we can continue to lift the quality of our meetings and evaluations. Thank you, Akiko, for your wisdom and encouragement.

3️⃣And this week brought even more exciting news: 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 has recognised 𝗛𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 as a 𝗦𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯! 🏆
That means we achieved 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝟭𝟬 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 and maintained our membership at 𝟮𝟱+ 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 — a fantastic result and a real credit to every member who has contributed to our club’s growth and success.

Last week was a cracker of a meeting — we had 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 Kevin Pohl as our special guest and General Evaluator, and the whole room walked away sharper. The kind of feedback that levels you up fast.

And here’s the “hot off the press” news…

🎤 Our Immediate Past President, Tim Muhundan (pictured here with Kevin from last meeting), has been selected as the 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 at the North Island District Conference - and he’s also running a workshop on Saturday. More details coming soon from District 112 Toastmasters in New Zealand, but we’re pretty proud of that one.

“Fake it till you make it!”

That theme shaped the past week’s Hobsonville Toastmasters® meeting, with "patience" as the Word of the Day....a good reminder that confidence grows one purposeful speech at a time.

What did we learn:
Four prepared speeches ranging from “the laws we don’t see” to how to navigate your brain and memorize complex ideas...... each delivered with clear structure and purpose.

The key takeaway from the meeting: Real confidence isn’t faked; it’s practised.
Patience + purposeful reps = progress.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to such an awesome meeting.

This week’s Hobsonville Toastmasters® meeting ran as a combined Table Topics and Humorous Speech contest; an unusual format that swaps the standard agenda for high-energy, timed challenges. Table Topics tested impromptu clarity under pressure; Humorous speeches rewarded story craft, timing, and that very Kiwi sense of humour.

Behind the scenes, we had the full contest crew: counters, judges, and a chief judge keeping it fair and flowing. It felt competitive in the best way; supportive, focused, and a clear step up for anyone keen to stretch their speaking game. Winners now progress to the Area level, with more learning and stage time ahead.

Takeaway: competition accelerates growth where the feedback is fast, timing is tight, and stakes are high 😀

Moment of Truth: your voice shapes our club.

This week we used the first half of the meeting for a Toastmasters® MOT workshop. We pressed pause on the usual flow so members could talk openly about how the club is tracking against their needs, what helps confidence, what confuses first-timers, and where small tweaks could make a big difference. It was practical, respectful, and future-focused. The executive team will review the suggestions, share quick updates, and fold the rest into our plan for the year. Listening first keeps us useful, welcoming, and fun.

Highlights:
• Honest feedback across the full member journey.
• Actionable improvement ideas captured for the executive to progress.
• Inclusivity on display, space for every voice.

“Safe space starts with compassion.”

That set the tone for this week’s Hobsonville Toastmasters® meeting. Word of the day was "compassion"

Highlights from Speakers:
• We had a fun Spanish mini-lesson, delivered with ease and barely looking into the notes
• Follow your dream - don’t accept limits others put you in
• Challenge your muscles; you don't have to lift heavy weights; small and consistent moves matter for your body strength.

Milestone:
We celebrated two members of the club who completed Level 1 in Pathways - great work.

Takeaway:
Growth sticks when the room feels safe and compassion leads the way.
