Your committee has yet to meet to map out club events for the first few months of 2026, but as the first club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 4th February, we are organising a BBQ at the club rooms in the Splash Planet carpark from 7pm.

I'm particularly keen to extend this invitation to new and recent members as a way to get to meet us and find out what you want from your club membership. Our past events such as weekend club trips out of the region have attracted very little interest in recent years, whilst our fly-tying nights have grown in popularity. We're only going to be able to adapt to members preferences by listening to what you want, so if new and seasoned members could bring ideas along with them, that would be much appreciated.

We are looking for ladies who will be keen to attend a special fishing retreat weekend next April. It will be at the Hastings Anglers Club Lodge in Patangata and feature workshops, lots of fishing on the Tukituki and a chance to share your experiences & knowledge with other like minded women. More details will be available in the new year, but register your interest and we'll be in touch. Cost will be approx $80-$120ea dependant on sleeping arrangements and catering. We are holding a club event at the Rochfort Rd access point to the Tuki Tuki from 5pm on Wednesday 19th November.
Will include a BBQ & is open to people looking to join the club as well as members.

Hastings Anglers Club are looking for new members this year.
A friendly small club with members from schoolkids to pensioners, we do monthly Casting Clinics during Spring & Summer, Fly Tying in the winter months, have monthly speaker events through the year & have the awesome Patangata Lodge on one of the best bits. of the Tuki.

Patangata Hut - Lloyd Struthers Fishing Clinic
Lloyd is running the last of his fishing/casting clinics of the year. These events have been hugely popular & we need to keep the momentum going, so get yourselves along to pick up skills in a few hours that would take you years of trial & error to pick up on your own.
Format remains the same. Arrive at the lodge for 8am, decide on the content of the session over a coffee/tea, then onto the water until a pub lunch.

The club rooms are under renovation until at least the end of October, so we're switching the monthly events around in case we can't get access indoors. You know the drill for these sessions by now. If you have any casting techniques you want to learn, let us know in advance & we'll make sure someone can assist.

8am - 12:00, Friday 29th August, Patangata Club Lodge
Casting/Fishing Clinic with Lloyd Struthers
Lloyd has generously offered to revive the 'last Friday of the month' fishing & casting clinics which have been extremely popular over the past 2 years, although we may spread the workload of hosting across a few other people this year.
For newer members, these events simply require you to rock up to the club lodge at Patangata for 8am. Bring your own fishing stuff. Depending on the wishes of those who show up, Lloyd will run a session covering casting techniques at all levels of ability, focusing on techniques including Euro nymphing, indicator fishing, dry/dropper & many more.
The session usually wraps up at lunchtime when they retire to the Patangata pub for lunch. What's not to like?

Fly Tying Evening
We have several novice tyers getting started at the moment, as well as our usual collection of more seasoned tyers & this session will accommodate both by splitting into 2 groups. For the seasoned tyers, we have had requests on tying CDC wings, which we could focus on depending on the wishes of who turns up on the night. For anyone wanting to join the novices, a reminder that we have lots of tying kits & supply all materials, so you just need to bring yourselves.
