Hawea Community Association

Could you help us spread the word?

The Hāwea Community Association does a lot behind the scenes for our community, and we need support to tell everyone about it!

We’re looking for someone who is:
📱 Confident with social media
💻 Comfortable updating a Squarespace website
✍️ A clear and engaging communicator
🏡 Keen to support the Hāwea community

It’s a paid role requiring just a few hours each month, supporting our busy volunteer committee to keep our members and wider community informed.

Sound like you, or someone you know? Tag them below or share this post!

After significant erosion events, a large digger is currently at the base of the Flora Dora cliff carrying out geotechnical work to support completion of final engineering designs.
has committed to having the engineering solution, including
schematic drawings showing what the end result will look like, to us by
the end of October.
By the middle of November, Hāwea Community Association and Contact Energy
will commence a series of community engagements to enable the
community to have input into the ‘softening’ design elements around the
build, plantings, amenities, etc.
Contact Energy has committed to commencing remedial work during the winter
of 2027 when the lake is low, and hope to have a three-month window for
work to happen.
In the first year, they will batter back the cliff from Scott’s Beach towards the dam and excavate the base of the cliff to a sufficient depth to enable the footings of the retaining structure to be formed.
