And thats us, second half of the year underway 👌🏼

The boys from William Colenso College got stuck into some hard mahi in the gym with some testing, then they got stuck into some hard mahi in the classroom where we looked at our pou rangatiratanga and what that means to us and also what that means to our rōpū.

Got some cool stuff coming up so keep your eyes peeled 👀👀

Our three pou highlight the outcomes we aim to achieve with the rangatahi we work with:
1) Pou tangata: Overall wellbeing of the rangatahi, te whare tapa wha
2) Pou taiao: Our connection to the taiao and how it plays a role in our sense of cultural identity
3) Pou rangatiratanga: Emphasizing being leaders in all aspects of the rangatahi's lives.

If you are interested in the mahi we do scan the QR code to get in contact with us.

And thats term 2 done 💪🏽👌🏼 as I said in a previous post "new ropu, new rangatahi, new kura, same kaupapa"

We are working towards something great, and there are two trains of thought that sit with us in regards to us achieving that:

1) There is no better time than now

which to us means do it now, make that connection, start that programme, apply for that fund, buy that thing, approach that school. There is no better time than now so just do it.

And the second train of thought

2) Good things take time and taking your time is a good thing

which to us means trust the process, do the hard (and at times boring) mahi, keep your head down and do a good job, dont worry about chasing the rest, focus on the quality of what you do and do it all the time.

So we are looking forward to the rest of the year and growing with the rangatahi we have the privilege of working with.

Onwards and upwards whanaunga 🤙🏼🤙🏼

New rōpu

New rangatahi

New kura

Same kaupapa - betterment of our rangatahi through kaupapa Māori means.

Its always tricky starting with a new crew, not knowing what they value, what they are hoping for from us, what they know about us, and even if they want to be here!

How we break the unknown from the rangatahi perspective is:

- Authenticity: being completely oursleves, flaws and all

- Relationship building: getting to know the rangatahi, who they are, what they've been through, and what success looks like to them

-Time: not rushing the process, good things take time, and taking your time is a good thing

- Student voice: He aha tōna whakaaro? What do they think about what we are doing?

Heoi, don't stop hustling cause the hustle don't stop 💪🏽💪🏽

Back to it with the boys from William Colenso College 💪🏽💪🏽

At times we find ourselves trying to think of intelligent descriptions for the photos or videos we post when in reality we just like doing cool stuff 👌🏼 with cool rangatahi and watching them grow.

Problem solving to us is a never ending skill to keep sharpening. And sometimes fun games that make you laugh, yell, get frustrated, and cheer on your bros are the exact steel you need to sharpen that skill.

Share this post if you love the problem solving mahi the boys have been upto 🙌🏼💪🏽🤙🏼

"I dont want to be a product of my environment, I want my environment to be a product of me" extra points if you know where that quote is from.

But I like the message in that rerenga, and for me that is don't let where you come from determine where you can go. Got our boys from William Colenso College out to Hastings Nourished for Nil depot as part of our community leadership project.

The boys got to meet Christina (founder of Nourished for Nil), learn about what they do and how they do it, and then the boys got stuck into repacking some frozen fries to get sent out in their Friday service.

Mahi long mahi strong boys 💪🏽💪🏽🤙🏼🤙🏼

Leadership comes in a number of different shapes and sizes.

It can be as complex as shaping an organizations strategic development plan, or as simple as guiding your mate who is blindfolded and helping them shoot a ball in a hoop.

To us the thing they have in common......their as simple or complex as you choose to make them. The impact when either are done correctly can be life changing.

But if I'm honest, I'd choose the KISS method any day, simple is sweet and I think the rangatahi from Hastings Intermediate agree 🤣🤣

Been a while inbetween haircuts but we are back into it, today we spent the day with the Te Ngahere whānau at the Cape Sanctuary. we planted a tonne of native rākau, learnt some of the whakapapa of the Waipuka area, and got to meet some amazing people.

A huge mihi to the bro Tipene Cottrell and his crew for allowing us to come and learn about the amazing mahi you guys are doing.

A lot more posts to come of the awesome mahi we will be doing over the rest of the year 🤙🏼🤙🏼
