Kia ora e te whānau,
It’s been a very busy week, but also a rewarding one a strong start to Term 2. We are seeing the ū (commitment), manawanui (resilience), and ngākau hihiko (enthusiam) of our rangatahi as they dive into new learning.
With Tū and Kat back, the ahi ako has been reignited within our whare. Our tauira are on a meaningful haerenga, creating taonga Māori. This is more than just an activity it is a wero from Matua Tū for them to tū pakari, believe in their own pūkenga, and recognise the beauty in their mahi. Within each taonga is a kōrero, a connection to whakapapa, and the wairua of the creator.
In the kīhini, the smell of ANZAC biscuits has filled the air bringing the rōpū together and teaching mahi tahi and manawanui. These simple moments are where māia, rangatiratanga, and hari are grown in our rangatahi.
In the whare kori tinana (gym), the energy is still high! Our rangatahi continue to thrive as they learn the basics of kickboxing building not just their tinana, but also their hinengaro. They are learning discipline, resilience, and how to tū pakari through challenges.
This term, we have introduced “Student of the Week” to celebrate the growth and effort of our rangatahi. This week, we proudly congratulate Holden Thompson a great example of ū, a positive ngākau, and someone who leads by example.
Most importantly, we are seeing real growth and puāwaitanga. Our rangatahi are building confidence, growing their wawata, and learning that no goal is out of reach. With tautoko, aroha, and whakapono, they are capable of achieving great things.
We continue to move forward with purpose kia noho ora, kia noho kaha, kia noho whakaaweawe.
Ngā mihi nui 💛

Kia ora whanau,

We're saddened to share that early this morning someone broke our back window and entered our premises. Its disappointing, especially as our kaupapa is about supporting our rangatahi in positive ways.

We're grateful that our alarm system was triggered and that security and police responded quickly.
Thank you to those who showed up when it mattered.

While this has shaken us, it wont change our commitment to our community. We'll continue to stand strong and support our young people in every way we can.

If anyone saw anything or has information, please reach out.

Nga mihi

This week has been full of learning, surprises, fun, and flexibility. Our rangatahi have engaged really well in their mahi, showing great effort and enthusiasm throughout. Highlights included presenting news articles, participating in mau rākau, gym, netball and making our own pizzas which were delicious! We wrapped up with a movie and some munchies, creating a great balance of learning and enjoyment.

Our Roberts Education & Training LTD shirts, the meaning behind them

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā karangatanga maha,
Tēnei au e tū ake nei, he manu kōrero, he manawa ora,
to lift the story woven into this tāniko before us.

Look closely.
These patterns are not simply black and white
they are heartbeat and horizon,
they are the whispers of our tūpuna travelling through time.
Every line, every angle, every repetition
is a breath of the ones who dreamed us into being.

And see how the white shimmers with a metallic glow, that glimmer resembles our rangatahi stepping forward,
walking into the light of their futures,
carrying the shine of promise upon their shoulders.

In these rising triangles, we see whakatupuranga, the ascent of our rangatahi, climbing the mountain of knowledge with trembling hands,
yet unwavering hope.
Each point reaching upward is a reminder
that greatness does not fall from the sky,
it is climbed towards, step by fearless step.

The descending shapes speak of ngākau māhaki, humility, grounding, the quiet strength of those
who stand firm like Papatūānuku,
holding our people steady
when the winds of the world try to bend them.

And in the bold, unwavering lines,
the aho tapu,
we see her.
The wāhine Māori who dared to weave Roberts Education into life.
A builder of futures.
A carrier of fire.
A weaver of possibility.
She stitched this kaupapa the way our kuia stitched cloaks:
with aroha, with grit,
and with a vision that stretched further than her own lifetime.

This tāniko is her reflection,
patterned with courage,
shaped by sacrifice,
strengthened by whakapapa.
It reminds us that education is not a classroom,
it is a korowai,
wrapped around our rangatahi so they may walk into the world
unafraid of their own brilliance.

Roberts Education stands today
because one wāhine Māori believed
that our tamariki deserve a whare
where they are seen,
where they are uplifted,
where their Māoritanga is not an obstacle
but a superpower.

So let this tāniko be our reminder:
We are woven from the same threads as our tūpuna.
We are patterned with potential.
We are carved for greatness.
And like this design,
our story repeats,
generation after generation,
stronger every time.

And just like that, our 2025 chapter has come to a close. Our hearts are full. To everyone who came to celebrate with us today.. thank you. The day was filled with beautiful performances, kōrero, waiata, haka, and of course the kai, made this day one to remember.

This year, five of our tauira proudly graduated from Roberts Education Alternative Education, stepping into 2026 with courage and purpose. Some will return to continue their haerenga in Hospitality Levels 1 and now 2, and we couldn’t be prouder. This year has stretched us, grown us, tested us..but through every low, the highs shone brighter.

At Roberts, we stand here to nourish your tamariki, to uplift them, and to create a safe space where they can truly grow. This isn’t goodbye.. this is a “see you soon,” because our connections don’t end here.

Behind the scenes was a mission, yes.. but never impossible. Every challenge was met with determination, teamwork, and aroha. What we do here is driven by one kaupapa: to see our rangatahi thrive. To see them walk confidently into their futures, successful in their own ways, grounded in who they are.. whether their path lies in Te Ao Māori or beyond it.

Our tamariki are doing exactly that. Thriving. Building foundations that will carry them into brighter, bolder futures. And we are honoured to walk even a small part of their journey with them.

He taonga ngā tamariki..and today, they reminded us once again just how bright they shine.
