We had a lovely visit this afternoon from Wendy Porter , her husband Tony and daughter Kirsty. Wendy lives in Palmerston North and came on a guided visit to the Maraekākaho woolshed and our village hall a few weeks ago.
Wendy is descended from the Mason family (Mason's Ridge?) and knows a lot about her family history.
She has kindly donated an original map from 1930 when Maraekākaho Station was finally broken up and sold , a book and file about her family history.
We will display this lovely map once our decorating work and kitchen refit are complete and the book and file will be available to anyone who wants to research their family history or our local history.
Thank you very much Wendy.

It's been a busy morning at the hall...
7.40am - Shane Gudgeon and his guys from local painters Gudgeon Services have started the preparation work for redecorating the Supper Room. Lots of noise and lots of dust at this stage.
Removal of a big map from one of the walls revealed a previous wall colour.
9.15am - Anaru from Aonet arrived to move their router and Wi-Fi equipment.
9.30am - John Hortop arrived with the new kitchen cabinets to begin installation. John will template the installation tomorrow for the manufacturing of the stainless steel worktops.
The last photo is a render from Resene of our chosen colour scheme for the Supper Room.

Not so boring now... We've made great progress this week with the floor now finished and curing. Joe and Shane from GM Floor Sanding have worked at speed to allow for our plumbing first-fix to happen next Tuesday. Thanks guys!
Update - I was very remiss in forgetting to mention the invaluable help given by Daniel Chamberlain from local builder Reef Construction HB, in replacing rotten boards. A big 'thank you' Daniel.
