A rates rebate is a partial discount on a residential rates bill, meaning you could save up to $805 on your rates. If you own your home and are on a low income, you may be eligible. Note: The current rates rebate is for the year ending ๐—๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฌ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, so if you haven't applied already then get in quick.

Whether youโ€™re eligible and how much you could save depends on the following:
โ€ข you must be the legal owner/ratepayer for the property
โ€ข you must have been living in the property on ๐Ÿญ ๐—๐˜‚๐—น๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฑ
โ€ข the property must not be used principally for commercial, industrial, business or farming purposes
โ€ข the total amount of rates you pay
โ€ข your total household income before tax
โ€ข the number of dependants living with you.

You can also do a quick check using the online rates rebate calculator here: www.govt.nz/rates-rebates-calculator

If you need any help completing the form or have questions about eligibility, come in and see the team at our customer service centre 207 Lyndon Road East, Hastings 4122 or call (06) 871 5000.

โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒก If you are struggling to pay your power bill, you should contact your energy provider as soon as you can. Energy providers must follow consumer care obligations, which include working with you to keep your energy supply affordable. Your provider can work out a payment plan with you, so that your credit rating isnโ€™t affected.

If you receive a benefit, are on a low income or have extra costs because you have a disability, you may be eligible for some financial assistance to help pay your power, gas and water bills.

You might also be able to save money on your power bills by switching to a different plan or provider or through things you can do at home to safely reduce your power consumption.
