‼️‼️ UPDATE - RACING CANCELLED ‼️‼️

Due to severe weather warnings, racing on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 for the Secondary School Nationals has been cancelled.

Our final day of racing will conclude today, Wednesday 25.

This is a first ever for this event, however the safety of the rangatahi is our priority.

If you have any questions please head down to the Ski Club to speak with the Waka Ama Admin team.

Yesterday we kicked off our first Novice Paddler group for 2026! We had a loooot of interest so we weren't able to take everyone, but we had 14 new and returning kaihoe join learning about our club, our tikanga and values, and our awa.

Waka ama is more than a sport to NTW! Our waka and our hoe are an extension of ourselves, and we believe that if we look after them, they will look after us. So we made sure they got a taste of both land and water training, and we hope these wāhine get the itch and want to take up paddling with our whānau!

But also ..tāne mā ..where yalls at?👀 Coz the ladies are showing up and showing oooout!! 💪🏽

Kia ora whaanau, we have received huge interest in the Novice program, with a waiting list in double figures! Unfortunately we can only safely take a limited amount at one time, so the current program is FULL.

We will be looking to have another intake for this program at a later date and will let you know when it’s available.
