Celebrating National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest annual celebration of volunteering. Held from 14-20 June 2026, this week is an opportunity to recognise, celebrate, and appreciate the millions of volunteers who enrich Aotearoa New Zealand.
We-Epilepsy New Zealand- would like to thank all of you who have helped support us by giving up your time to raise funds and raise awareness. You make our Purple Day in March extra special, and your willingness to spare some of your time is always appreciated. We are forever grateful 💜

Today, Puri Hauiti, a father and teacher, shares how his son has epilepsy and how the whanau coped, which led him to become an author. He has written a series of books about Maia, who lives with Epilepsy; these sensitive and empowering stories follow Maia as he navigates life and finds courage after a sudden epilepsy diagnosis.

Our educators have some copies of one of Puri's books or go to https://maia-the-kaitiaki.myshopify.com/collections/all

A Huge Thursday Thank You to Pub Charity.

One of our largest and longest funders, this year Pub Charity is supporting our educators in Northland, Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Hutt, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury and Otago!

that's a massive reach and we couldn't do it without them and their venues, running across the country to feed community funds back into their communities.

Thank You Pub Charity.

See The Person

We're inviting family, friends, and colleagues to join our “See The Person Campaign.” Through their answers to our questions, we aim to illuminate the impact of epilepsy on those connected to individuals with the condition. While many think they understand epilepsy, true insight often grows when you personally know someone living with it.
