🎣💚 SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF FISHING IN THE WAIKATO! 💛🎣

The Waikato Sport Fishing Club is about much more than catching fish — it’s about bringing families together, getting kids outdoors, building friendships and creating memories that last a lifetime. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🎣

We’re proud to be a club that helps introduce the next generation to fishing, giving young people opportunities to learn new skills, experience the outdoors and develop a genuine passion for our waterways and sport.

From family fishing days and competitions, to youth development, seminars, workshops and kayak & jetski fishing initiatives, we’re working hard to create opportunities for everyone — from those picking up a fishing rod for the first time to experienced anglers.

But we can't do it alone. 🤝

💛 WE'RE LOOKING FOR SPONSORS! 💛

We’re calling on local businesses and individuals who believe in supporting our community and the future of fishing to come on board and partner with the Waikato Sport Fishing Club.

Your sponsorship can help us:

🎣 Give kids more opportunities to get involved in fishing
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Support family-friendly fishing events
🏆 Run competitions and club events
🎓 Provide youth education, seminars and workshops
🌱 Help build the future of sport fishing in the Waikato
💚 Strengthen our local fishing community

When you support the club, you’re not just sponsoring fishing — you’re investing in our kids, our families and the future of our community.

Whether you're a small local business, a larger company or an individual who simply loves fishing, we'd love to have you involved.

🤝 Become part of the Waikato Sport Fishing Club family and help us make a difference.

📩 Get in touch with the Waikato Sport Fishing Club to find out about sponsorship opportunities.

🎣 Together, we can inspire the next generation and keep the fishing spirit alive in the Waikato! 💚💛

Aaaand that's a wrap for our 2026 Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, Waikato Big Four Comp. The overall honours came down to a hard fought battle between last year's winner Ben Cullen and Aaron Bennett. Congrats to Aaron for winning the comp for the second time in the Hostory of the Big four with an impressive 297 cm Bag with Ben following close behind with 282.5cm, With Rory Bennet taking out third place with a bag of 273.5cm.

Congrats to all the Category and Species winners you'll see in teh table below.

We ended up with 59 entrants slogging it out for 3 weeks of April, which really turned out to be Easter and Anzac weekend for most of us, when the two intervening weekends were taken out by adverse weather.

Thanks so much to Scott at the team at Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, Waikato along with our other sponsors for continuing to support this Iconic tournament.

And last but not least, thanks to all the Anglers who supported us again this year and gave it their all!
