Fantastic to see collaborative community restoration happening along the Ōtākaro Avon River. Please support if you’re able. 🌿

🌱 Help us grow a native forest in the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor.

Join us for a family-friendly community planting day as we continue restoring green spaces in Christchurch — one native plant at a time 🌳

We’ll kick off the morning with a gentle yoga warm-up with Uprising Yoga before getting stuck into the planting mahi together, followed by shared kai to finish the day.

(Keep an eye out for the CVNZ flags on Gayhurst Road!)

🧘 10:00am – Gentle yoga warm-up

Council is calling an urgent public meeting following the Government’s announcement giving councils just three months to develop amalgamation proposals.

🌟 When: 7pm, Thursday 14 May
🌟 Where: Waimate Event Centre

☀️ If you can't attend the meeting, you can join online via a link on Council's website on the day.

This meeting will help you understand the Government’s announcement, what it could mean for our district, and what options may be available. Most importantly, it is a chance for you to have your say on a decision that will shape our identity for generations to come.

We understand this meeting is being held at short notice. Unfortunately, the Government’s deadline leaves no room for delay. While a decision that defines our future cannot be made in 90 days, it certainly will not be made without our communities being front and center.

We urge everyone to engage with us as we navigate this process together. The meeting will be advertised in the Trader, on Facebook, and via a district wide email. Please share this message with friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues.
