The Alexandra Lodge No. 1188 EC
The Alexandra Lodge No. 1188 is governed by the United Grand Lodge of England which in 2017 celebrated its 300th anniversary. Founded in 1866 at the end of the Land Wars in the township of Pirongia then known as Alexandra, the Alexandra Lodge’s mission was then as now to care for its community while making good men better. Freemasonry is the world’s oldest fraternal organisation with an estimated 6 million members globally. The United Grand Lodge of England currently has over two hundred thousand members meeting in 6,800 Lodges.
The Alexandra Lodge’s special charity in Hamilton is the McKenzie Center which is dedicated to supporting child who have special educational needs. The Alexandra Lodge is also a supported of the National teddies for Loving care where children in hospital recieve a teddy bear when they need comfort and support.
