Grey District Youth Trust (GDYT) | Greymouth | Part-Time
Position purpose and scope
The GDYT Manager supports and enables young people to lead youth-driven initiatives by providing guidance and access to appropriate opportunities and resources, advocating for youth voice, and adapting activities to reflect the needs and preferences of young people. The position is responsible for the day-to-day management of GDYT operations, including programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, volunteer and contractor support, community networking, and funding acquisition. The GDYT Manager reports directly to the Board of Trustees.
About the Grey District Youth Trust (GDYT)
We are a registered charity and have been in operation since 2008. Our vision is to work creatively with young people in ways that cultivate connection, growth, positive change, and participation within the Grey District. We support four core strategic and investment areas of work, including youth voice, youth-friendly spaces and places, the arts and wellbeing, and sustainably supporting our core workers for effective youth advocacy and leadership.

We’re looking for someone with:
A passion for youth development and youth-driven activities
An eye for identifying and offering development opportunities for youth that are aligned with their interests and goals
Strong verbal and written communication that is adapted to different groups (youth, the Board, parents, volunteers, external agencies)
Experience working with youth and contractors as both a leader and empowering figure
Experience working with community stakeholders that hold interest in developing youth
Financial acumen and reporting skills or a willingness to learn
Event coordination and facilitation including risk assessment (e.g. night markets, movie nights, outdoor activities)
Essential requirements
Qualified (or working towards) a minimum Level 4 Certificate in Youth Work OR has a minimum of five years’ experience in youth work in New Zealand OR experienced in applying The Code of Ethics for Youth Work in New Zealand or a similar model OR is a member of Korowai Tupu – the Professional Association of Youth Workers in New Zealand
Full driver’s license
Clean police record for police vetting check
Can work outside of normal operating hours e.g. nights, weekends
