Last week, we celebrated Youth Week! Youth Week is all about celebrating our taiohi and the kaimahi who work alongside them. Last week was jam-packed with all sorts of activities and events. Big shout out to Ara Taiohi - Peak Body for Youth Development for supporting Youth Week, we could not have done it without you.

Over the week, we focused on Te Whare Tapa Whā. To celebrate and support our hauora we learnt new skills to better our mental health with Fresh Coaching, celebrated our Youth Central whānau with a shared lunch, got our body moving with Circability, learnt about healthy eating habits, got fresh haircuts that made us feel cool and confident by Avenue Barbers and our kaimahi had the amazing opportunity to expand their knowledge and strengthen their practice with the team at Gender Dynamix Aotearoa. Thank you, Piritahi Youth Collective and Youth Voices Action - YVA, for organising such a fantastic professional development opportunity.

We also had a youth activation wall set up that had taiohi speak their mind about the world around them. This was set up by the amazing Hauora Hub of Youth Central. It was important to us to hear and see the thoughts of our taiohi so we know how to best support them.

Thank you Equine Dynamics! We had such an awesome session getting to know Tommy and learning about your programme. Bring on the rest of the programme!

Thank you Te Aranui Youth Trust for trusting us!
We had a fantastic first session today, with Tommy as the teacher.

This young lady never having had anything to do with horses before (and prefers cats and Archie 😀), was unable to come close enough to Tommy to pat him...in the beginning. Tommy was patient, kind and forgiving, allowing her the space and time to feel safe enough to give it a go.

Using massive amounts of bravery, self-reflection, perseverance and trust, this young participant stepped up and succeeded, doing what she told herself she could not. Eden, her mentor supported and encouraged her all the way and learnt heaps too!

What a team, I cant wait to see how you grow 🥰
