Glen Eden Community Patrol is affiliated to CPNZ (Community Patrols of NZ) whose purpose is to empower communities to prevent crime and create safer environments through the utilisation of trained and equipped volunteer patrols. Glen Eden patrol is responsible primarily for the Glen Eden area patrolling neighbourhoods and providing high visibility within the community. We patrol day and night, weekdays and weekends. Our aim is to reduce the opportunity for criminal activity by acting as a deterrent through the visibility of our vehicle. We always patrol in pairs and login with Police District Communication Centre at the beginning and end of each patrol. Volunteer patrollers give as many hours as their schedules allow (generally a flexible commitment of around 2-4 hours per month - or more if they have the time). Patrol groups have full backing from NZ Police (while remaining financially independent) and act as “eyes and ears” for the Police, gathering intel and reporting incidents. All applicants (and age is no barrier) are vetted by Police, put through training and every member must sign a declaration of confidentiality and a code of conduct. If you have any questions please either contact us here or phone Sue (Interim Patrol Leader) on 021 681 207. For more information, see the CPNZ website: http://www.cpnz.org.nz
