***Medical Health Care a Top Priority for Gisborne – Minister Simeon Brown Visits Ngāti Porou Oranga
Ngāti Porou Oranga was honoured to welcome the Minister of Health, Hon Simeon Brown, to Te Tini o Porou this afternoon. In a visit that underscored the Government’s commitment to much needed healthcare for all whānau, the Minister met with our Trustees and kaimahi to hear firsthand the needs and aspirations of our whānau and community.
A highlight of the day was a visit to the refurbished Puhi Kai Iti Clinic and the recently opened Rauru Pharmacy on Tyndall Road — two beacons of community-led health transformation for Kaiti, Gisborne.
At the heart of discussion was the game-changing After-Hours Clinic at Puhi Kai Iti — a service that’s already making a meaningful impact by easing hospital pressure and ensuring people in Gisborne can access care when it matters most.
“This clinic is for whānau in need and is a lifeline for our community,” says Dr Kiri Bird, Medical Director, Ngāti Porou Oranga “and we’re proud to deliver care that’s welcoming, local, and designed with our whānau in mind.”
