After more than 23 years leading Te Rūnanga o Tūranganui-ā-Kiwa, Ronald (Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga a Mahaki) has resigned as Chief Executive, closing a long chapter of service to the whānau, hapū and iwi of Tūranganui-a-Kiwa.

The Rūnanga represents the collective interests of Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga a Mahaki and Ngai Tamanuhiri, with Ronald at its helm through more than two decades of change across the rohe.

“His commitment, leadership and service to whānau, hapū and iwi have helped shape the organisation and advance the aspirations of our people,” Board Chair Meka Whaitiri said.

The Rūnanga will now begin an open recruitment process for its next Chief Executive.

Nominations are now invited for four (4) Trustee positions on the Tāmanuhiri Tūtū Poroporo Trust.

To stand for election, candidates must be Adult Registered Beneficiaries and meet the eligibility requirements of the Trust Deed.

Nominations close at 12 noon, Friday 9 October 2026.

Nomination forms and further information are available from the TTPT Office, 60 Reads Quay, Gisborne, ph 06 863 3560, or from Election Services at www.electionservices.co.nz/tamanuhiri or 0800 922 822.

🗳️Election information and voting
The Trust is moving to a primarily electronic approach for election communications and voting. This approach is consistent with the Trust Deed and reflects the significant increase in postage costs.
If an election is required, electronic voting will be available to Adult Registered Beneficiaries, with voting information issued from Friday 30 October 2026. Voting will also be available at the Hui-ā-Tau in accordance with the Trust Deed.

Beneficiaries who have requested Private Notice will receive election information privately. Where an email address has been provided, this may be sent electronically. If you have requested Private Notice and have provided only a postal address, the relevant documents will continue to be sent to you by post.

SH2 MATAWAI TO BARTLETTS, GISBORNE – WATER CUTTING

Plan ahead for STOP/GOs at various sites on SH2 between Matawai and Bartletts starting Wednesday 2 to Wednesday 30 September, 7am to 5pm Monday to Saturday for water cutting work.

Crews will be working under a mobile operation with DELAYS of up to 10 minutes expected.

This work depends on various factors and may be amended or rescheduled; an update will be provided in the comment section. ^JP
