Gisborne Care and Craft Centre

Gisborne Care and Craft Centre We have many disabled attendees who are thriving thru this.

The Care and Craft Centres cater for lonely house-bound people and not so mobile adults, known as guests, who are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of handcrafts and social activities.

Very thankful to the family who dropped this off for us to use. Our guests who love doing jigsaw and excited to use it.

Kia ora koutou 👋

Next week is Dying Matters Week 💜 — and here in Tairāwhiti, there are some beautiful opportunities to come together and have the conversations that matter most.

Death, dying, grief, end-of-life care — these are part of life, and they deserve to be talked about with openness and aroha. Whether you're curious, navigating loss, or simply want to connect with others, you are welcome.

No need to register — just turn up, bring yourself, and be part of the kōrero. We'd love to see you there.

Its lovely to receive such yummy treats while we are doing our activities thanks Good Bi***es Baking Gisborne

Here is our lovely Dot. Dot has been running Care and Craft Gisborne for 38 years. Thats 5-6 hours at least 48 weeks a year, for 38 years. Of voluntary work, supporting those who, usually, aren't supported by any other service.

We are still looking for someone who has this passion to step in and support Dot and eventually take over what Dot has been doing.

Most people come to volunteering wanting to give back. What they don't expect is how much volunteering gives back to them.

New connections. New friends. New experiences. A renewed sense of purpose.

That's what we see, week after week, in the volunteers we place across Tairāwhiti.

Ready to find out what volunteering could give you? Get in touch with us today.

Kia ora koutou 👋
Join us for next month's Grief Café at PBC Cafe — and the topic is a beautiful one: *The Healing Power of Writing Through Grief. *
Whether you're carrying loss from a death, a relationship ending, a diagnosis, or a life change, writing your story can be a gentle path toward healing.
We'll explore why writing helps, share simple ways to get started, and connect in a safe, warm space.
📅 Monday 17 August, 10am
📍 PBC Cafe – Dining Room, Gisborne
Everyone is welcome — no writing experience needed. Just come as you are. 💛
To express interest or find out more, reach out to Nicole: [email protected] — or simply drop in.
