✈️✨ We had a great time at our latest match event at the Tairāwhiti Aviation Museum! From exploring inside the old airplanes to learning about aviation history, it was a morning filled with fun!

To top it all off, we took a walk over to the airport to watch a plane come in for a landing. For a lot of our kids, it was their very first time seeing a plane land live, and watching their faces light up was pure magic! 🛩️👀❤️

Meet our newest match, Mathew and Axle! 🏈🔥

Axle couldn't be more excited to match with someone who shares his big energy, loves getting outdoors, and is always up for kicking a ball around. Enter Mathew: super active, a volunteer firefighter, and someone who brought so much fun to their match meeting that they even ended up playing tag! 🏃‍♂️💨

We know these two are going to have an absolute blast together and make so many great memories. Welcome to the BBBS whanau, Mathew and Axle!

What an inspiring three days in Ōtautahi Christchurch for ! 💫

Tiff is back at home in Tairāwhiti with a full heart and lots of new ideas. Massive appreciation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Zealand team for putting together such an enriching programme.

Well that's a wrap for

3 full on days of connection, networking & professional development in the wonderful city of Ōtautahi Christchurch - big mihi to BBBSNZ for all your mahi preparing this hui and to BBBS Christchurch for hosting us - we absolutely love your city - such a vibe!!

To our guest speakers and presenters - so many amazing insights into the mentoring world and best practice tricks for our staff to use ensuring long term quality matches across the motu.

A particular mention to Simon Pankhurst - psychologist, who shared valuable insights into emotional attachment theory to not only support those involved in our programs but for staff to understand their own limitations and expectations..

Looking forward to 2027 with the BBBS whanau!!!

This Father's Day, as we celebrate the strong father figures in our lives, let's take a moment to think of the young people who don't have one.

So many young people grow up without a consistent, encouraging male presence to guide them, celebrate their wins, or just listen. As a mentor you don't need to be a superhero to change that trajectory, you just need to show up.

Reflect on the impact a stable mentor made on your journey, and consider if you could be that person for someone else.

You don't need a degree, special qualifications, or all the answers to be a mentor. Most of the time, mentoring looks like this: kicking a ball around, doing some baking, or just hanging out and catching up on the week.

If you’ve got an hour a week and a little space in your life to show up for a young person, you’re already qualified.
