Happy 125 Birthday
125 years ago on May 29, 1901, the Rawhitiroa Hall was opened for the community. 6 local men had volunteered to be guarantors to the bank for a mortgage to build the Rawhitiroa Community Hall.
They were Hall Committee Chairman Liddle Nairn, H A Wood, A Manley, J Jacobsen, G Coplestone and G Moir.
The building has since been the social hub of the community and remains a well-used and valued space, serving community groups, Rawhitiroa School, and residents.
Our Community Hall is looking fantastic, and the surrounding area continues to impress with ANZAC Cove, the Memorial Wall, and the newly repaired and painted gates and entrance to the Rawhitiroa Memorial Pool.
We are grateful for the continued support from TOI Foundation, the TET Trust and the South Taranaki District Council. Their support plays a vital role in enabling us to deliver these improvements and sustain the Hall for the future generations.
This is a great time to acknowledge the generations of Hall Committee since then that have been involved with keeping the hall maintained and completing the continuous improvements. Thank you to all the community that have given their time too.
All this activity and support highlights how important this space is to our community. Together, we continue to provide a place where people can meet, connect, relax, and enjoy themselves. As we look ahead, we’re excited about future improvements and the opportunities they will bring
