We warmly invite anyone interested to join us for a special evening with Glen Hazelton, Project Director – Major Projects and Central City Plan at Dunedin City Council.

At a time when many city centres are grappling with change, Dunedin has some real advantages — and this session is a chance to hear what’s next. Glen will share insights into the Central City Plan (now due for a refresh) and open the floor to ideas about the future of our central city — making this a particularly relevant conversation for those living and working in the CBD.

Glen brings significant experience, having led the transformation of the Warehouse Precinct into the vibrant heritage area it is today, and more recently overseeing the George Street upgrade — the first major redevelopment of Dunedin’s main street in nearly 40 years.

This will be an engaging and forward-looking evening, with plenty of opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on where our city is headed.

Event details:
Date: Tuesday, 16 June 2026
Venue: The Dunedin Club
Time: 6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start
Cost: $40 per person (includes dinner)

If you’d like to attend, simply purchase a ticket using the link below to secure your place.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be a really worthwhile discussion.

🥫Cans for a Cause 🥫OCTACAN 🥫

This Saturday you'll find us at New World Centre City collecting cans as part of Rotary's nationwide Cans for a Cause campaign, helping stock foodbanks across Aotearoa.
Here in Dunedin, we're also gearing up for Octacan, supporting the Presbyterian Support Otago Family Works Foodbank.
We're combining both efforts - so every can you give helps local families in need
If you're heading to the supermarket, please grab an extra item (cans, non-perishables, toiletries) and drop it in with our team.
Every can counts!

RYDA Road Safety New Zealand sessions were held in Dunedin last week for year 12 students. Rotary is a proud supporter of RYDA, with clubs providing volunteers on the day as well as donations subsidising the cost for the schools.

Congratulations Alexander!

Alexander is a regular face at our events and projects and most recently we helped him attend RYLA in Queenstown!

We are super proud of you Alexander! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you achieve!

Kia ora koutou! We’re delighted to announce the inaugural recipient of the University of Otago | Dunedin City Council Entrance Scholarship is Alexander Lea. 👏

💻Alexander is a first year Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) student at the University of Otago – Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.

📝The former Otago Boys High School student was awarded the newly created scholarship, in keeping with late former Mayor of Dunedin Jules Radich’s desire for it to go to someone studying in the information technology field.

🙏Alexander says he’s grateful and feels very privileged to have been chosen as the inaugural recipient.

🫡He regularly volunteers for Rotary, helping with everything from book sales and charity fundraising to rally race security, and frequently contributes to iFixit, an online repair forum for smartphones and laptops.

♻He also recently started volunteering at Com2Tech – a Dunedin-based not-for-profit focused on reducing digital inequity through sustainable recycling, technology re-use and education.

🌐On top of that, Alexander has built and hosts his own computer game servers and plans to pursue a career in network engineering.

💵Established in 2025 with funds from the Dunedin City Council – Kaunihera a-rohe Ōtepoti, the scholarship is valued at $15,000 and will be awarded once every three years to a student undertaking undergraduate degree study at the University of Otago - Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
