The New Zealand Ethics Committee is a national ethics advisory committee, based in Dunedin, serving any researcher not eligible for ethics review from the standing institutional or health and disability ethics committees. Many research projects from professional, community and government researchers fall outside this narrow realm of health or university based research. The committee meets regularl

y using either video or telephone conferencing or email. Applications received by the first of any month should be reviewed within that month. Submit all queries or completed applications to Martin Tolich, the convenor of NZEC. The email address is [email protected]

The New Zealand Ethics Committee is a registered Charity entity . The New Zealand Ethics Committee had initial sponsorship from a grant from the Ministry of Social Development. Currently NZEC is supported from a generous grant from the Tindall Foundation. No researcher is mandated to submit his or her proposal to NZEC: it is a voluntary service. Those wishing to donate money to the New Zealand Ethics Committee to cover running costs can do so via the bank account details on our website.
