We're super excited for the upcoming New Zealand Festival of Nature starting Friday next week!

Our DOC team are carrying out an awesome scavenger hunt using our Urban Nature panels scattered throughout town! There is an awesome prize pack of eco-goodies up for grabs 🌱

Find the 11 letters (each worth one entry) and unscramble the mystery word for another five entries! We'll also be at ART PLAY IN NATURE which can give you another bonus entry 🤩

Best of luck!

Mums and pups are still on the move around coastal roads in Otago, so please be aware and keep your distance!

We are so excited to share that two sea lion pups have recently been born at Chisholm Links golf course, Dunedin!

Sea lion, 'Hiriwa' had her latest pup on January 2, this is the fourth pup she's given birth to at the course.

Summer Rangers have been putting out signage to alert people to the presence of sea lions and DCC animal services will be patrolling John Wilson Drive and the golf course more frequently in the coming weeks.

We urge the Dunedin community to keep these beautiful sea lion pups safe, asking residents to keep dogs on leads and drive carefully while in the area. 🐕 🚙

Happy international volunteer day! 🌱

Today we celebrate all the hard mahi and hours dedicated towards volunteer work around the world. In our little corner of Aotearoa, the work we do helps the survival of many special flora and fauna. A big thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and skills this year!

If you are looking for more opportunities, keep an eye on our website and newsletter https://www.doc.govt.nz/get-involved/volunteer/in-your-region/otago
